We’re thrilled to share the details for the final event in the Celebrate our Heroes Music Festival on September 17th at Fort Berens Estate Winery.
This is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of those who have kept us safe over the challenging last two years. We invite our healthcare workers, first-responders, BC Wildfire staff, highways, railroad, and Telus and Hydro crews, front line staff, and everyone else to enjoy a late afternoon and early evening filled with music, food, and appreciation.
Tickets are free, but we ask that you reserve tickets as there is limited seating.

September 17 Concerts
We have an amazing musical line-up, including 3 fantastic performances.
4:00pm – The Fly Smackers
5:00pm – Cat Madden
6:00pm – Jill Barber Trio
The Fly Smackers
Lillooet’s The Fly Smackers will start us off with some old-time music featuring Appalachian fiddle music. Have a listen here.
Cat Madden
Then Cat Madden from Squamish will take the stage. Cat’s voice is like an opera singer mixed with a Husqvarna chainsaw. Her incredibly powerful vocals are intertwined with expressive, calculated lyrics. Cat’s songs blur the lines between rock, soul and jazz so eloquently. Her band effortlessly transfers you from finger clickin’ swing to woodstock-era influenced rock. Have a listen here.
Jill Barber Trio
Finally, we will be treated to an intimate concert with Canada’s Sweetheart, three-time Juno Award nominated singer-songwriter, Jill Barber. Jill has an unforgettable voice – once heard, never forgotten. Her critically acclaimed repertoire spans a transformative spectrum from folk, to vocal jazz, to pop and includes songs in both French and English. Jill will be performing as part of her trio. Have a listen here.
Wine, Food, Shuttles and More
The Kitchen at Fort Berens will be running a special festival menu, including slow smoked brisket, pulled pork sandwiches, vegetable chili, coleslaw, and watermelon salad. Food will be served backyard BBQ style. BBQ, wine and other beverages including non-alcoholic options will be available for sale at the winery during the festival.
For your convenience, we will have a shuttle to and from town to get you home safely after the event. The shuttle will start at 3:45pm with stops at Buy-Low Foods, the Reynold’s Hotel, and the winery. The last shuttle will be 30 minutes after the bands finish. If you’re driving to the winery, consider carpooling as there is limited parking available. Please be safe and consider your ride home.
Bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy live music outdoors overlooking our vineyard while savouring a glass of your favourite Fort Berens wine and saying a word of thanks to our hometown heroes.
The Celebrate our Heroes Music Festival is made possible thanks to a grant from Heritage Canada.
