The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver’s smokehouse restaurant hosts its inaugural
‘Battle of the Breweries’ dinner, March 22

Two decorated contenders in the BC craft beer scene will participate in a match of malty proportions at H2 Kitchen + Bar on Wednesday, March 22. Vancouver Island Brewing and Backcountry Brewing will go head-to-head for diners’ votes as they pair brews to complement hearty Southern-inspired dishes presented by Pitmaster and Restaurant Chef Homer Baisa.

Craft beer enthusiasts in attendance will be treated to a selection of 10 sample-sized craft beer pairings (one per brewery, per course). The interactive dining experience asks guests to declare who paired it best, and the winning brewery will be dubbed once the final course is completed.

The five-course lineup includes:

Smoked Cheddar + Bone Marrow Croquette
squash romesco

Smashed Cucumber Salad
spring peas, frisée, watercress, fennel, crispy pancetta, micro cilantro, crispy shallots, toasted seeds, Szechuan buttermilk emulsion, citrus vinaigrette

Beer Battered Oyster Mushroom
tartar sauce, pommes allumettes

Smoked Bone-In Pork Belly
honey BBQ-glazed, charred scallion verde, spiced peach coulis, sweet potato purée, spring succotash

Molten Chocolate Cake
coffee gelato, smoked candied pecans, salted caramel
The fun kicks off at 6:00pm and ends with a commemorative parting gift which includes brewery swag and gourmet goodies from H2 Kitchen + Bar.
