Summer sippers for those long and lazy days

It’s not what we have that’s worth a lot.
It’s more in the days that we forgot.
In the sun we take out time.
Drinking the last of the summer wine.

Poem by Roy Storey

So many reasons to enjoy these three summer wines.

Silk & Spice red wine blend

A perfect pairing for the rest of the grilling season – Featuring Intense aromas of ripe red and black fruit, such as blackberries and ripe plums. A spicy character evokes vanilla, black pepper and pink peppercorn, combined with hints of mocha. The balanced profile of this wine and the easy tasting it provides make it suitable to be enjoyed while dining outside. It is also wonderful when paired with grilled meats and vegetables. Silk & Spice adds new significance to the famous 16th-century trade route between Europe and Asia.

Portugal’s heritage of exploration is celebrated in this easy-drinking red blend. Deep ruby, with aromas of black plum and berry reduction and lifted honeyed and spicy notes. On the palate, Silk & Spice lives up to its name; soft, supple and approachable, dry, with plum, jammy and spicy flavours.

Gazela Vinho Verde

A nice light and crisp addition to any brunch or outdoor affair- Pale yellow straw colour; floral aromas with nuts, fresh herbs and green pear notes; dry, medium-bodied, with delicate fresh fruit flavours; bright and refreshing with a spritzy finish. Loves to be paired with food including spicy curries, grilled seafood and summer salads.

Sort of a natural wine spritzer, this light white wine from Portugal is for quenching the thirst. Delicate apple flavours and freshness abound; enjoy with fish brochettes, grilled prawns or tandoori chicken.

Some exciting news…

Sharing the fabulous news that Silk & Spice is coming out this October with a new blend- Silk & Spice Spice Road which will retail for $15.95 like the current Silk & Spice.

Spice Road is an intense red wine that highlights the most important spices traded during the Portuguese voyages of discovery, which are now found all around the world. This blended red, which is an opaque ruby colour, has intense aromas of well-ripened black fruit and notes of dark chocolate and spices.

An intense ruby colour, this wine has an intense aroma of ripe black fruit accompanied by notes of chocolate and spices. Full-bodied and enduring, it is balanced on the palate and invites a long, harmonious, and spicy finish.

This wine was produced from a fantastic selection of grapes with optimal levels of phenolic maturation. After gentle destemming and crushing, the grapes passed to stainless steel tanks where fermentation took place. During fermentation, gentle maceration occurred at controlled temperatures to preserve the natural aromatic elements of the grapes. After fermentation, maceration continued in contact with the grape skins for several days.

This very gastronomic wine pairs fantastically with meat dishes, strong cheeses, and barbeques.
