Meet Me in Gastown!

“MEET ME IN GASTOWN” CELEBRATION RETURNS THIS SUMMER

The free community event includes a partial temporary closure of Water St., street performers, local
business activations, a show by the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, and a finale performance.

Meet Me in Gastown, a free community event organized by Low Tide Properties, will include live music, art demonstrations, games and a special finale performance happening on Thursday, August 31 from 3pm-7pm.

Hosted by Low Tide Properties in collaboration with the Gastown Business Improvement Society, PCI Developments, Reliance Properties, and The Salient Group, the event will partially close Water Street from Abbott Street to Carrall Street, to celebrate Gastown’s unique heritage and community.

The afternoon will kick off with performances from Emmett Jerome and Hayley Wallis at the Maple Tree Square Stage. Local artists including Arega Grigoryan, Katherine Cross, Olivia Di Liberto, and Paige Jung will be stationed on the streets, captivating crowds with live art demonstrations. Additional musical acts, including Alannah Clark, Katie Stewart, and Lee Nichols, will be found throughout Gastown, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

Harmony Cornwell, Director of Property Management and Operations at Low Tide Properties, is looking forward to bringing back this community-focused event to Gastown for the second time. “Meet Me in Gastown is a major highlight for our community during the summer,” says Cornwell. “This event showcases all that Gastown has to offer and brings our local businesses, residents, and visitors together
to celebrate the historic and vibrant atmosphere that Gastown holds.”

Along Water Street, visitors can shop local businesses and engage in activations, including a free floral bouquet station. Picnic tables will be set up along the street for attendees to enjoy takeout from neighbouring businesses, along with Monarca and Guilt & Co.’s cocktail patio extension on Carrall Alley.

Restaurants such as Local Public Eatery, MeeT in Gastown, Twisted Fork, L’Abbattoir, and The Greek will be lively spots for guests to dine, with Portside hosting an oyster shucking competition between the local Gastown restaurants. Finally, attendees will be treated to a performance from the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra with an exciting grand finale celebration.

The transit-friendly event is within walking distance from Waterfront Station. Stop by Deville Coffee (333 Seymour Street, located directly across from the skytrain station) to pick up a Meet Me in Gastown tote bag with a purchase (while supplies last) and enjoy the dynamic roving band, East Van Horns.
