Fanny Bay Celebrates Anniversary with All-Star Shucking Competition, Special Food
and Drink
Menu, Donation to Chef’s Table Society of BC

The Michelin Guide-Recommended Fanny Bay Oyster Bar & Shellfish Market is marking its ninth anniversary with a one-night-only birthday bash featuring their annual shucking competition that normally happens at BC Seafood Festival in the Comox Valley, which is on a break this year while the industry has been busy focusing on ongoing tariff and funding strife. This shucking shown down will be a Best in the West Oyster Shucking Competition that requires competators to shuck a dozen oysters as fast as they can while also maintaining the perfect quality. Besides the entertainment of the shuckers the evening will also include a special food and drink menu befitting the occasion at the downtown hotspot (762 Cambie Street) on Tuesday, June 24.

A limited number of tickets to the 8 p.m. event are available for $20 per person here and include two drinks as well as a portion donated to the scholarship fund run by the Chef’s Table Society of British Columbia — a chef-administered collaborative that supports BC-based producers, protects food security, fosters camaraderie among hospitality professionals and works to create a positive legacy for young chefs in the industry working here and abroad.

As part of the ninth-anniversary celebration, Fanny Bay — which earned its third-consecutive Recommended Status from the prestigious MICHELIN Guide last fall will play host to a Best of The West Oyster Shucking Competition that will see BC’s best shuckers roll up their sleeves and try to shuck their way to cash several prizes. A special à-la-carte menu of Fanny Bay’s classic food and drink favourites and feature items will also be available for purchase throughout the event.
