AWARD-WINNING OKANAGAN CHEF PAIR ARE BACK WITH
THEIR REVAMPED CULINARY TOURS OF INDIA
For years, chefs Jasbinder Dosanj (formerly Poppadoms) and Aman Dosanj (The Paisley Notebook) have showcased the breadth of India’s foodways through sold-out pop-up dinners and regional cooking classes in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. Now, the mother-daughter duo are encouraging culturally curious Canadians to explore India with them through a one-of-a-kind, 12-night itinerary of their must-see and must-eat spots in Delhi, Agra, Bharatpur, Jaipur and Mumbai.
“Feeding people isn’t what we Indians do; it’s who we are,” says Jasbinder Dosanj. “The idea is to teach people about the richness of our culture by eating our way from state to state.”
As with The Paisley Notebook’s story-fuelled pop-up menus, the meals themselves serve as a platform for tackling big topics, from the lasting impact of colonialism to climate change. “Holi [India’s festival of colours] represents the transition from winter to spring as well as new beginnings,” says Aman Dosanj. “It’s also a day where religion, caste and economic status momentarily disappear because everyone is covered head to toe in powdered colour. We’ve applied that thinking to crafting a culinary tour that takes you across the spectrum, from my cousin’s favourite kebab shack in Delhi to buzzy modern farm-to-table restaurants in Mumbai.”

About Jasbinder Dosanj
Jasbinder was born and raised in New Delhi, India. In 2009, she opened Poppadoms, an award-winning farm-to-table Indian restaurant in Kelowna, British Columbia. For the past 15 years, she has taught regional, home-style cooking classes across the Okanagan Valley. Her recipes have been featured in The Globe & Mail, The Butcher, Baker, the Wine & Cheese Maker in the Okanagan, plus others. This will be her seventh group tour to India.
About Aman Dosanj
Aman is a former England and Arsenal footballer who traded the pitch for the kitchen. The Paisley Notebook’s pop-up dinners are more than a culinary experience; they’re a conversation. The meals are shaped by the rhythms of produce and the stories of the farmers and artisans who grow it, while the surprise menus serve as a platform to tackle big topics like social justice, climate change and South Asian culture. Her project has raised nearly $80,000 for antiracism and mental health charities with small acts of kindness. After winning the 2018 ‘Culinary Tourism Experience’ category at the Canadian Tourism Industry Awards, the Globe and Mail listed Dosanj as one of the country’s next star chefs. By 2024, Food & Wine magazine dubbed her pop-ups the “coolest” in Canada. As a freelance writer, her work has appeared in Food & Wine, ELLE Canada, The Globe & Mail, Serviette, Chatelaine and more.
