Beaujolais Brings Depth, Diversity, and Storytelling Power
to the Vancouver International Wine Festival
Beaujolais will be a region to watch, taste, and talk about at the upcoming Vancouver International Wine Festival, offering British Columbia wine lovers the opportunity to explore one of France’s most dynamic and evolving wine regions through both the International Festival Tastings and a dedicated trade seminar.
Today’s Beaujolais wines are vibrant, expressive, and food-friendly, offering purity of fruit, fresh acidity, and a growing sense of structure and age-worthiness.
Known for its expressive terroirs and renewed focus on quality, Beaujolais will be showcasing a curated lineup of wines that highlight the region’s breadth, from fresh Beaujolais Blanc and Beaujolais Villages to structured Crus. Attendees are encouraged to visit the Beaujolais tasting station, connect with the wines, and experience firsthand why Beaujolais continues to resonate with modern wine drinkers.

TRADE ONLY Seminar: Beaujolais — Dig into Diversity
Wine professionals and accredited media are also invited to purchase tickets for the trade-only seminar that takes a deeper dive into the region’s defining characteristic: diversity.
If Beaujolais were summed up in a single word, it would be diversity. Diversity of landscapes, with Crus in the north, Beaujolais Villages in the centre, and Beaujolais in the south. Diversity of soils, revealed through plot-by-plot cuvées that highlight the region’s terroirs. This seminar explores Beaujolais through this multifaceted lens.

About Beaujolais Wines
Beaujolais Wines represent a vineyard defined by exceptional geological diversity, expressive terroirs, and a renewed commitment to quality. More than 300 distinct soil types, including granite, limestone, and volcanic rock, shape the Beaujolais landscape, which is recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark. This remarkable diversity is expressed across 12 appellations, from Beaujolais and Beaujolais Villages to the region’s celebrated Crus.
Each Beaujolais wine reflects a genuine connection to place, shaped by officially recognized, named vineyard plots or small geographical areas with distinct soil and microclimate characteristics, of which there are nearly 600 in the region, called “lieux-dits”; as well as vineyard heritage, and the people who farm and vinify these sites with care. The region’s wines tell a grounded, authentic story, balancing generations of traditional expertise with the innovation of a new generation of passionate winemakers.
Since 2019, Beaujolais has embraced a collective movement toward premium terroir wines, strengthening its identity through initiatives such as the promotion of the lieux-dits, applications for Premier Cru recognition, and the development of additional geographic indications. This shared vision has positioned Beaujolais as a region in confident renewal, producing wines of depth, distinction, and enduring character.
