Beyond Van Gogh Expands With Beyond Monet for Nanaimo Summer Run

One ticket now includes both artist experiences at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre, with existing ticket holders automatically upgraded

Claude Monet is joining Vincent van Gogh in Nanaimo this summer, turning the previously announced Beyond Van Gogh exhibition into a two-artist experience at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.

Beyond Monet has been added to the Nanaimo run from July 18 to August 29, 2026, bringing the artist’s work to Vancouver Island for the first time and giving ticket holders access to both presentations under one admission.

Anyone who has already purchased a ticket to Beyond Van Gogh will be automatically upgraded to include Beyond Monet. No change is required to existing tickets.

The addition comes as the local partnership behind the exhibition continues to grow. The Vancouver Island Conference Centre, the Port Theatre, Nanaimo Museum, and Tourism Nanaimo first announced Beyond Van Gogh earlier this spring, with Paquin Entertainment Group producing the Nanaimo presentation. As planning continued, the opportunity emerged to add Beyond Monet and bring both artists together for the summer run.

Beyond Monet draws from Claude Monet’s best-known works, including Water Lilies and Impression, Sunrise, using projection, sound, colour, and movement to reframe the artist’s paintings at a larger scale. Paired with Beyond Van Gogh, the Nanaimo presentation gives audiences a chance to move between two very different artistic worlds in one visit.

Inside the exhibition, the Van Gogh and Monet presentations will run on a rotating loop. Each artist presentation will run for approximately 25 minutes, with a short transition between shows. The order may vary by entry time, but every ticket includes access to both.

“This project has continued to evolve in many exciting ways,” said David Warburton, Artistic Executive Director, Port Theatre. “Adding Beyond Monet gives audiences a fuller experience and strengthens what we set out to do from the beginning, which is bring a major cultural experience to Nanaimo in a way that works for this community.”

The expanded exhibition adds another arts and culture draw to an already active summer calendar in Nanaimo that includes outdoor concerts, night markets, the Bathtub Races, waterfront events, and community programming across the city. Located downtown, the Vancouver Island Conference Centre is within walking distance of the waterfront, the Port Theatre, Nanaimo Museum, restaurants, shops, and visitor services, making the exhibition an easy anchor for a day trip, overnight stay, or broader Vancouver Island itinerary.

“Beyond Van Gogh was already a meaningful addition to Nanaimo’s summer calendar, and the addition of Beyond Monet gives residents and visitors even more value under one ticket,” said Carly Pereboom, CEO, Tourism Nanaimo. “It also reflects what is possible when local partners work together to bring new experiences into the city and create more reasons for people to spend time in Nanaimo.”

Beyond Van Gogh and Beyond Monet will run July 18 to August 29, 2026, at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre, located at 101 Gordon Street in Nanaimo. Tickets are available through the Port Theatre Ticket Centre and IslandEvents.ca.
