THE STARS ALIGN AGAIN: ST. LAWRENCE EARNS ITS FIFTH-CONSECUTIVE MICHELIN STAR AT THE 2026 MICHELIN GUIDE RESTAURANT SELECTION CEREMONY IN VANCOUVER
Railtown Dining Destination One of Only 10 Local Restaurants to Earn Prestigious MICHELIN Guide Accolade as it Prepares to Celebrate its 10th Anniversary in 2027
Vancouver’s celebrated St. Lawrence Restaurant was bestowed with a fifth-consecutive MICHELIN Sta
St. Lawrence was one of only 10 restaurants across the city to earn a coveted MICHELIN Star, which “identifies establishments serving exceptional cuisine that’s rich in flavour, remarkably executed and infused with the personality of a talented chef”. The French- and Québécois-inspired destination was launched by Chef/Owner Jean-Christophe (J-C) Poirier at 269 Powell Street in the city’s Railtown District in 2017 and will celebrate its tenth anniversary next year.
“Charm abounds at this beloved Québécois bistro,” writes MICHELIN in its 2026 entry about St. Lawrence. “Sit close enough to Chef/Owner Jean-Christophe Poirier’s kitchen to experience the heady aromas of his refined yet indulgent French-Canadian cooking, featuring ethereal sauces and a characteristic use of sweetness. The fixed menu changes seasonally, but signature additions like oreilles de crisse (crispy pig ears tossed in maple syrup and spices) and a savoury éclair filled with duck liver mousse, are well worth considering for those who desire an extra hit of richness.

“Otherwise, the meal begins with thoughtful canapés and proceeds to heartier fare like charcoal-grilled duck with chou-farci and wheat berries. For dessert, you’ll get a final dose of sweetness, perhaps in the guide of a maple St.-Honoréwith Chantilly and caramel.”

It’s the latest in a string of accolades for St. Lawrence, where Poirier pays homage to his Québécois roots by bringing his razor-sharp focus and dedication to craft and time-honoured traditions to bear in an elevated-yet-approachable enclave where food, drink and ambiance combine for a transportive dining adventure unlike any other.
“We’re extremely honoured by this fifth-consecutive MICHELIN Star, and I share this award with everyone, past and present, who has helped us so thoughtfully build the story of St. Lawrence,” says Poirier, who attended the ceremony with Margaux Herder — a former St. Lawrence fixture who has since gone on to partner with Poirier to open a sister spot to St. Lawrence, Chez Céline, in Vancouver’s Fraserhood.
“While this is a special moment, our mission at St. Lawrence remains the same as it has since we opened our doors — priding ourselves in preparing food that is rustic, generous and honest and showcases haute country cuisine in all its glory,” says Poirier. “For us, simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication.”
Earlier this year, St. Lawrence was among 14 Vancouver restaurants to be ranked on the prestigious annual list of Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants at No. 40, while Chez Céline earned the No. 60 spot.
Chez Céline, which is co-owned by Poirier and his wife Dara Dammann-Poirier, Herder (Head Chef) and David Lawson (General Manager) was also named to Canada’s 2026 List of Top 10 Best New Restaurants and was awarded Gold for Best French Restaurant at the 2026 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards, with St. Lawrence also earning an Honourable Mention at the same ceremony.
