Haywire Winery Releases Limited Edition Lunar Red Wine

Celebrate the Lunar New Year with Haywire Winery’s
Limited Edition Lunar Red Wine

In case you missed the news, Haywire Winery is thrilled to announce the return of the highly anticipated Haywire Lunar Red, a limited-edition wine crafted to celebrate the 2025 Lunar New Year and the Year of the Snake. This release continues a cherished tradition that began in 2014 when Haywire became the first winery in British Columbia to introduce a Lunar New Year wine.

Haywire’s Lunar Red has already created a buzz on social media among wine enthusiasts and Lunar New Year celebrants, and orders are flowing in. This release is not only a festive must-have but also supports a meaningful cause.

In line with Haywire’s commitment to community and cultural engagement, a portion of the proceeds from this special edition wine will be donated to the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation. The Foundation is dedicated to revitalizing Vancouver’s iconic Chinatown and fostering a resilient, sustainable community through projects focused on affordable housing, cultural preservation, and economic development.

Haywire Lunar Red Tasting Notes

Specially labeled with a bold Year of the Snake motif, this celebrated wine is a meticulous blend of Merlot and Cabernet, perfectly complementing the rich and vibrant flavours of the festive season. Haywire’s Lunar Red offers an intense and aromatic nose with notes of dark cherry, black licorice, leather, and a subtle earthy element. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine is beautifully balanced with chalky tannins. Flavours of stewed fruits, cherry cola, fennel, and dark cocoa unfold, leading to a long, bright finish with lifting acidity.

Perfect for pairing with Lunar New Year favourites, Lunar Red shines alongside dishes such as ginger beef, smoky sauces, dark soy, Szechuan cuisine, and wok-seared vegetables.

To secure your bottle of Haywire’s Lunar Red, visit Haywire’s online store. Priced at $28.88 per bottle, quantities are limited.

Discover the Perfect Pair: Download Haywire’s Bilingual Guide to Pairing Asian Flavours with Wine

To keep the celebration going, Haywire has re-released its bilingual Guide to Pairing Asian Flavours. The guide’s aim is to get people to think of pairing wine with Asian cuisine both at home and while dining out.

In 2014 the team worked with food author Stephanie Yuen and the late Nathan Fong, who was a journalist, to develop a ‘how to’ for pairing Asian influenced flavours with the flavour profiles that emerge from BC wines. This handy (free) guide can be used year-round!
