Organic and biodynamic fine food merchant Casa Gusta offers premium quality pasta, oil and balsamic vinegar to LaStella winery visitors.
When two families met and shared their utmost respect for each other’s product, not only were friendships formed, but a business relationship too. LaStella has been working with Casa Gusta since 2010, providing their Italian/German organic and biodynamic products to visitors at the winery and special friends. But as interest has grown in their delicious and high caliber products, the winery decided to expand their selection and let the world in on a very special food company.
Casa Gusta is well known for supplying some of Europe’s Michelin Star restaurants with their fine food products, so there was no hesitation in bringing their pasta and oils to British Columbia. The winery offers a limited supply of Senatore Capelli Pasta Chittarine, Balsamico Condimento (8 year old), Mosto Cotto, Olive Oil “Delicato”, and Olive Oil “Intensivo”.
The management team at Enotecca is happy to work with a company that shares the same vision in producing a superior product. “LaStella wines and Casa Gusta olive oils are both made with a strong commitment to respect the land where the fruit is grown. For us the goal is not just about the end product but about the means.”
“The pasta made from not any Durum wheat but an ancient and rare indigenous wheat variety named after the Senator/Agronomist Sr Capelli that lead to its discovery in early 1900. This hard wheat variety contains more amino acid, lipids, vitamins and minerals, which leads to its signature “bite”. “
“Delicato is made exclusively from a rare variety (cultivar) called Raggia- arguably the finest and most sought after variety in the world. The olives for this oil come from a very small olive grove in central Marche on the east coast of Italy. Many of the trees in this grove are more than 150 years old.”
These are no ordinary products; they need to be tasted to be appreciated along with the story of how they came to be. For more information about these products, visit their website. Or visit the winery tasting room open 7 days a week in October from 11-5pm.

Along with their sister winery, Le Vieux Pin, they have upwards of 50 acres of prime vineyards in Oliver’s Golden Mile and Black Sage Bench, as well as the Osoyoos Lake district. In their commitment to excellence, they both practice low input viticulture and sustainable farming, employing deficit irrigation to achieve very low yields and complex, concentrated flavours in their grapes.
