Located in North Vancouver, the North Shore Women’s Centre is dedicated to improving the social, economic, legal and political status of women and encourages and supports self-empowerment by acting as a resource and a catalyst for change from feminist perspectives. The centre aims to provide women with access to resources and assist them with life choices, actively address violence against women at all levels of the community, challenge sexism and discrimination in the community and work towards the elimination of the feminization of poverty.

“For this dinner, we’re proud to support an organization that works with women affected by abuse,” says Caner, founder of Honey Salt’s popular Art Dinner Series and Live Art for a Cause. “Emily Carr lived in a time when women’s voices were often dismissed, and in that spirit, we stand in solidarity with women whose strength is tested not by choice but by circumstance. Every one of our guests in attendance will help transform creativity into action and beauty into support.”

Professionally trained in France, Caner has more than a decade of experience in the restaurant industry. He earned his hospitality credentials at the Lycée Professionnel Notre-Dame culinary college and spent the first half of his career sharpening his skills at prestigious restaurants across Europe, where he held positions such as head waiter, sommelier clerk, head chef and restaurant director, giving him a keen understanding of how to keep his finger fixed firmly on the beating pulse of a restaurant before heading to Vancouver to lead the team at Honey Salt.

Vernon, BC-based artist Schuster has been painting full time for the past 15 years and her love for nature and the Great Outdoors is a major inspiration for her work. Whether the subject is landscapes, gardens, flowers or people, Schuster paints intuitively, abstracting her work to express the essence of the idea or image. Her work is prominently displayed at the Vernon Public Art Gallery, Nadine’s Fine Art and Vernon Community Arts in Vernon, BC as well as Armstrong Spallumcheen Art Gallery in Armstrong, BC and The Turntable Shop in North Vancouver, BC.
