BC GOVERNMENT PROCLAIMS APRIL AS BC WINE MONTH

BC GOVERNMENT PROCLAIMS APRIL AS BC WINE MONTH – TIME TO
SIP, EXPLORE & DISCOVER LOCAL

Province-wide celebration invites British Columbians to sip local, explore
wine country, and support BC’s wineries.

The Government of British Columbia has officially proclaimed April as BC Wine Month, recognizing the industry’s vital contribution to the province’s economy, tourism, and culture.

Wine Growers British Columbia (WGBC) invites residents and visitors alike to Sip the Spring by exploring local vineyards, discovering exciting new releases, and experiencing the unforgettable people and places behind BC wine. Now in its ninth year, BC Wine Month continues to grow as a province-wide celebration of one of British Columbia’s most dynamic and resilient industries.

“BC wine is still early in its story, but the potential ahead of us is extraordinary. Across the sector, we’re seeing growers, wineries, and partners working together more closely than ever. In many ways, we are building the future of BC wine in real time,” says Jeff Guignard, President and CEO of WGBC. “More British Columbians, along with visitors from across Canada, are choosing to explore BC as a winery destination. Every visit, every bottle, supports local growers, winemakers, and communities while showcasing the quality and diversity that make BC unique.”

This year’s BC Wine Month campaign captures the spirit of spring in BC wine country, from sunlit patios and vineyard views to hidden gems waiting to be discovered. As the season begins, it’s the perfect time to explore close to home and reconnect with local experiences.

Wineries, restaurants, retailers, and tourism partners across BC will bring BC Wine Month to life through curated experiences, seasonal features, and in-store promotions.

“BC Wine Month is about connecting people to place, product, and the passionate individuals behind every bottle,” said Kim Barnes, Marketing Director, WGBC. “We’re seeing incredible energy from across the industry, and we’re excited to build that momentum into the spring and summer season.”

BC Wine Month also highlights the diversity of wine available this time of year, including new 2025 vintage releases, BC VQA wines, 100% BC wines, and, for a limited time, Crafted in BC wines produced under the 2024 vintage relief and support program.

“April is the perfect month in BC to get out and explore what’s right here at home,” said Kelly Josephson, Director, Wine Growers BC. “If you’re looking for a way to support local, this is it. From vineyard views to hidden patios, there are so many ways to show some local family-run wineries, BC wine restaurants, and independent wine shops. No passport required.”
