Whether Valentine’s Day is something you loathe or love, it still provides a perfect excuse to treat yourself to a great evening out. This year, L’Abattoir, Gastown’s much-loved French-inspired restaurant, will be offering a special set menu in its private dining room.
Chef Lee Cooper has designed a three-course menu, which will include classic dishes with Cooper’s own additions, including smoked salmon served with fresh sourdough, crème fraiche and roe, roasted prime rib of beef with potato gratin, mushrooms with sauce perigord, and honey cake with white chocolate cremeux, grapefruit and lime for dessert. Upon arrival, guests will be treated to a welcome cocktail created by bartender Shaun Layton, in addition to specially selected wines paired with each course. The menu is $125 per person, inclusive of the beverage pairings, tax and gratuity.
The 1,200-square-foot room, one of Vancouver’s premier private dining spaces offered, is a welcome retreat from the bustling dining room in the front. Reservations will be available from 7:00 – 10:00pm, and can accommodate parties of 2 to 6 people. Diners take note: the menu cannot include substitutions or special requests available and is not suitable for vegetarians. Tickets must be pre-sold in advance, and with only 50 seats available, these pre-sold dinner tickets are sure to sell out fast.
So whether you’re attached, single or seeking a night out with friends, L’Abattoir has got you covered.

About L’Abattoir
L’Abattoir is located in the heart of historic Gastown. Built in the 19th century, it is the site of Vancouver’s first jail and originally buttressed the city’s main meat packing district. This history is reflected in the architecture, and the name L’Abattoir pays homage to the neighbourhood’s colourful past. Open seven days a week for dinner and weekend brunch, L’Abattoir specializes in French-inspired West Coast fare in a refined and comfortable setting.
