This release of Fortissimo is a blend of 39% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Franc, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Sangiovese Grosso. Showcasing the most amount of Cab Franc than in previous years. It’s our version of a Super-Tuscan.
“A ‘Super Tuscan’ is described as a red wine from Tuscany that may include the use of non-indigenous grapes, like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. This blend was a result of the frustration winemakers had towards a slow bureaucracy in changing the wine law of Italy during the 1970’s. Winemakers began mixing ‘unsanctioned’ wine varieties (like Merlot) into their blends to make high quality wines.” ~ Wine Folly
The direct translation of for·tis·si·mo is Loud and Strong.
Aged for 19 months in Hungarian and Slavonian oak. It offers a
Mélange of red and black fruits with a distinct note of green tobacco and cigars, nuances of cinnamon and clove, grilled capsicum, and the tannins are present yet plush. Enjoy it now, or cellar it for 8-15 years.
