Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir Gifts the Lower Mainland Something To Treasure this Holiday Season

Guest artists The Alumni Project join Good Noise in
glorious gospel gems and charming new arrangements sure to bring cheer

Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir (Good Noise) presents their cherished annual concert, this year titled Something To Treasure – A Good Noise Christmas, Dec. 9 & 10 at Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver, and Dec. 11 at Fraserview MB Church in Richmond. This jubilant event, which sells out each year, combines the 90 spirited voices of Good Noise with guest performers, The Alumni Project, in beloved gospel favourites and stirring new arrangements to ring in the festive season.

“Every year when our Christmas concerts wrap up, I’m pulled aside by audience members who tell me that their holidays simply wouldn’t be complete without this Good Noise tradition,” says Gail Suderman, Artistic Director, Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir. “As concert-goers fill the pews, singing along with hands clapping and bodies swaying, their warm, uplifting energy is palpable. People from all walks of life, no matter what their belief, find inspiration in the sound of gospel music, which makes it the ultimate style of music for getting into the spirit of the season.”

As a special treat, Good Noise has invited guest artists The Alumni Project to share the spotlight, and showcase their own delightful holiday repertoire. Led by talented sisters, Directors Carmen Hollett and Sonja Hindmarsh, this enthusiastic group from Abbotsford, B.C. began singing together as high school students in the international award-winning choral program at the Mennonite Educational Institute. Many years after graduation, they reunited to form The Alumni Project, rekindling their love for choral music and sparking passion for music in their community’s next generation of gifted singers. Already, The Alumni Project is making a name for themselves with breathtaking performances covering many genres including gospel, jazz, pop and classical.

A few program highlights of Something To Treasure include high-energy gospel interpretations of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Go Tell It On The Mountain by gospel powerhouse Israel Houghton performed by Good Noise. In addition, the choir will premiere Suderman’s arrangement of Grown Up Christmas List, a popular song previously sung by Kelly Clarkson, Natalie Cole and Michael Bublé. The Alumni Project will then take the stage with a set of gorgeous works, joining Good Noise for the finale of rousing gospel standards.

Accompanying musicians of this fun-packed, magical music event will be Michael Kalanj (organ), Laurence Mollerup (bass), Elliot Polsky (drums), Ingrid Stitt (saxophone), and Artistic Director Gail Suderman (piano).
