DAVID OUSTED OF VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC CREATES VIDEO SUPPORTING JEANS DAY™

Jeans Day, a fundraiser for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF) taking place on Thursday, May 4, 2017, released this video ­featuring Jeans Day ambassador David Ousted of Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and champion child Faris Abdulwahab, which encourages British Columbians to purchase their Jeans Day buttons and lapel pins, and #JeanUp for Jeans Day.

 

 

“I am constantly amazed by the incredible work that the doctors, nurses and administrative staff do at BC Children’s Hospital,” said Whitecaps FC goalkeeper David Ousted. “I feel honoured to be an ambassador for Jeans Day, and be able to work with great people like Jeans Day champion child Faris Abdulwahab. He is truly an inspiring young man!”

 

Individuals, families, corporations, and schools across BC and the Yukon are encouraged to #JeanUp and wear denim from head to toe, or their “Canadian Tuxedo”, in support of BCCHF’s Jeans Day fundraiser. Jeans Day buttons can be purchase for $5, and lapel pins for $20 at an official retailer – Save On Foods, Overwaitea Foods, Price Smart Foods, Urban Fare, London Drugs, Thrifty Foods, IGA, and Country Grocer on Vancouver Island. The annual public Jeans Day BBQ, hosted by Truffles Fine Foods will be held on May 4 at the Vancouver Art Gallery on Robson Street in Vancouver from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The cost for a pre-ordered lunch is $12, and $15 day-of. Online food delivery company, Foodora, will also be delivering Jeans Day lunches to businesses around Vancouver, which can be pre-ordered 48 hours in advance at www.Foodora.ca. Everyone who pre-orders a Jeans Day lunch through Foodora will be entered into a draw to win a Portmanteau Stereo. Celebrity athletes Henrik and Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks, a Whitecaps FC team member, and Jason Arakgi of the BC Lions will be attending the BBQ and available for pictures. In addition, professional team mascots, and a street team will provide entertainment for all age groups.

 

“We are excited for this year’s BBQ as Truffle Fine Foods is generously donating all of the food, and some of Vancouver’s favourite athletes will be in attendance,” said Teri Nicholas, president and CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We have a Jeans Day goal to raise $1.2 million and all proceeds from the BBQ go to Jeans Day; ultimately supporting BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.”

 

New to Jeans Day this year is the revamped school program. The registration process has been streamlined for participating schools, and Jeans Day is encouraging students to fundraise as well. Jeans Day is offering schools and children great incentive prize packs from the Vancouver Canucks, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and BC Lions. Teachers and administrators can download everything they need to incorporate Jeans Day into the classroom at Jeansday.ca.

Jeans Day, taking place on May 4, 2017, is one of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s signature events and grassroots fundraisers. It started in 1990, and has raised more than $20 million for BCCHF. Funds raised this year will go to the Excellence in Child Health Fund, which supports the most urgent health-care needs at BC Children’s Hospital.

 

The Jeans Day date has moved to the beginning of May as part of a bigger movement. A concerted effort has been made to unite all BC Children’s Hospital fundraising efforts in a final push during the month of May leading up to Miracle Weekend.
