Eye of swan in colour (coppery-orange) with medium plus intensity.  The nose is varietal with tree fruit aromas.  Good balance, slightly off dry with good mouth feel. The flavours echo the nose.  A slight bitterness on the finish with is characteristic of Pinot Gris.

This is a Bordeaux style blend.  The actual blend percentages are hidden under the foil cap.  Each year, it is up to the winemaker to decide on the best blend.  Garnet red in colour with medium-deep intensity. Blackberry, cherry, black currant and a hint of spice on the nose.  Good balance.  Blackberry dominates the other fruit – red cherry, cassis, plum – on the palate.  A medium-long finish.  Good now and will improve for another five or more years.  Spoiler alert – the 2011 blend is 47% Merlot, 31% Malbec, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc and 4% Syrah.

This Rosé is more like a Spanish Rosado with its medium-deep candy apple red colour. Perhaps this is to be expected from a winery with Portuguese heritage.  A blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Viognier.  Red berries, cherry and red currant aromas on the nose.  Good balance. Currant flavours dominate the red fruit on the palate and carries through on the palate.  Serve this wine on the patio with a plate of charcuterie, BBQ’d chicken or pork skewers.  Also give it a try at turkey time.
