50 CHEFS, ONE SOUP. THAT’S THE PLAN, ANYWAY.

Dine Out Vancouver Festival kicks off on Friday with Chef Soup Experiment

Do too many cooks spoil the broth? This FridayDine Out Vancouver Festival organizers are testing that theory by inviting local chefs (more than 50 are expected) to gather at Granville Island in the early morning for the second annual Chef Soup Experiment.

The chefs will each bring one ingredient (of their own choosing) to contribute to a communal cauldron. Over the next few hours, a team of student chefs from the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts will season, simmer and stir the concoction into some semblance of appealing soup. And beginning at 12:30 pm, soup samples will be served, for free, to the hungry public.

About the Chef Soup Experiment:
January 16, 12:30 pm – free Chef Soup Experiment samples served to the public!
Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, 1050 West 2nd, Granville Island
What happens when you ask more than 50 of Vancouver’s top chefs to each bring one ingredient and toss it into a boiling pot? Good question – and with this hot experiment, we’re going to find out, again! For the second year in a row, the Chef Soup Experiment will see some 50 local chefs each supply one ingredient to a collective soup pot. Over the next few hours, student chefs from the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts will chop, season, stir and cook the ingredients to perfection, then serve samples free of charge to the public before it all runs out. This event was a delicious success last year so we just had to do it again. Join the Dine Out crew at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts from 12:30 pm onward to snag your own portion of this once-a-year experimental soup! Everyone is welcome and the soup is FREE! But get there early, since the kitchen shuts down when the soup runs out. For full details visit dineoutvancouver.com.
