Subsidized Naturopathic Healthcare: The Integrative Community Accessibility Program
One of Vancouver’s most established and recognized integrated medical clinics has created a program offering low-cost naturopathic healthcare for residents of British Columbia who are covered by the Premium Assistance Medical Services Plan.
Integrative Naturopathic Medical Centre quietly but officially launched the Integrative Community Accessibility Program (ICAP) on Saturday, May 28th, but has just begun to promote the program this month.
Under the managing direction of Dr. Kathryn Leah, ICAP will be led by resident doctor, Dr. Jam Caleda. Dr. Caleda is a licensed naturopathic physician who joined Integrative’s accredited naturopathic residency program in 2015. He developed this program with a desire to provide complementary healthcare to those who might not otherwise be able to afford to seek out alternative medical services.
“I want to provide low-income families and individuals with services that will improve their health, aid in prevention and help them to cope with day-to-day stress,” says Dr. Caleda. “Finding ways to make naturopathic healthcare accessible for various communities within Metro and Greater Vancouver is a huge priority for Integrative.”
Medical services included in the program are primary care management, structural assessment, naturopathic and clinical testing, and integrative treatment. Discounts will be provided for intravenous therapy and prescribed supplements. Appointments for ICAP are booked for 30 minutes and are currently available on Saturday mornings.
Patients will be charged $33 at the time of their appointment, $23 of which is eligible for rebate under the province’s Premium Assistance Medical Services Plan.
Patients qualify for ten visits within a calendar year.
