Shamrocks and Shenanigans, March 17 ‘A whale of a time’ with Vancouver TheatreSports™

Vancouver TheatreSports™ League (VTSL) has some fun with all things Irish at Shamrocks & Shenanigans, the improv comedy company’s St. Paddy’s Day celebration on Friday, March 17 at The Improv Centre on Granville Island. Patrons that night have the choice of three Irish-themed improv shows – classic TheatreSports at 7:30 pm and again at 9:30 pm plus a crazy Celtic version of OK Tinder at 11:15 pm. Each show will highlight the Irish theme – for instance a TheatreSports scene with dialogue made up of random Irish expressions, or what happens when your date is ‘acting the maggot’ (“being obnoxious, behaving like an idiot”) or turns out to be one of ‘the little people.’

‘Begosh and begorrah’ the air will be thick with Irish accents as Lucky Charm Leprechauns roam the Theatre bringing hilarity and a chance to win a pot o’ gold to all they encounter. VTSL will hold a 50-50 draw at each show – that’s three chances to be touched by ‘the luck of the Irish’ and go home with the prize. Over in Poet’s Corner, our Celtic Colleen will improvise custom limericks tailored to each guest.

As The Improv Centre is fully licensed, patrons may ‘fancy a few scoops’ (“partake in the consumption of sociable drinks”) at the Neil Macrae Bar & Lounge. Bar Manager Paul Belsito is getting into the ‘spirits of the evening’ with specials on Guinness (what would St. Paddy’s Day be without Guinness?) and shots of Jameson Irish Whiskey. There’s even a special cocktail – the Irish Italian Kiss (Bailey’s Irish Cream and Amaretto over ice) for only $8. Don’t forget, audience members can enjoy their beverages inside the theatre as they watch the show. Slainte!

People have the option of purchasing tickets for only one show or two shows or to make a night of it and purchase tickets to all three shows. Whatever option is chosen, they’ll be guaranteed ‘a whale of a time’ of great laughs and convivial Celtic cheer and that’s no blarney. Tickets for the Shamrocks and Shenanigans shows start from $15 and can be purchased online at vtsl.com
