On Friday, April 13 the Naramata Bench Wineries Association member wineries were on hand for an afternoon media/trade tasting followed by Wines for Waves in the evening. All in all it was an incredible wine tasting experience.
My day started with a blind tasting of four Naramata wines presented by Naramata Bench winemakers – Val Tait from Bench 1775, Gavin Miller from Upper Bench, Stefan Arnason from Poplar Grove and Elephant Island’s Del Hallada. Matching the wines to the winemakers was a challenge but it was interesting because each winemaker gave an explanation of their process, terroir and a description. Whether you guessed right or wrong it was a challenging exercise but very informative.
The Spring Release of the Naramata Bench Wineries Association can best be demonstrated by a pictorial so here goes:
Every Naramata Bench wine is a winner. Whether you’re a Chardonnay or a Riesling fan; a Pinot Noir or Rosé drinker there was something for everyone at this tasting.
Here is a complete list of the member wineries of the Naramata Bench Wineries Association. I encourage you to go visit, you will not be disappointed. Every winery is welcoming and pleased to have you visit. If possible make an appointment for your visit and remember there is a tasting fee, often waved with the purchase of their wine.
