Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association partners with Sun Peaks Resort for a weekend of wine, food and ski
Enjoy a weekend of food, wine and winter adventure at Sun Peaks Resort with the first annual Savour the Sun festival, taking place December 7-9, 2018.
A partnership between Oliver Osoyoos Winery Country and Sun Peaks Resort, the weekend will bring some of the region’s most celebrated winemakers to the popular mountain destination. Anchored to three signature evening events, snow lovers can spend the day on the slopes before savouring rare finds and terroir expressive wines, paired with delicious food by the Sun Peaks culinary team.
The festival weekend kick-starts with Savour the Sun at Sunburst on Friday December 7th ($115, 5.30pm to 8pm), a ski-in ski-out, mid-mountain reception that will focus on private collection, hard-to-find wines presented and poured by the winemaker. This intimate event will allow guests time to engage with each winery, learning the nuances of their winemaking philosophies and discovering the passion behind their rare and unique wine portfolio. Wine tastings will be paired with delicious food stations. The spectacular Sunburst Bar + Eatery setting offers views of the slopes and the valley beyond, making this a stunning spot for a unique wine tasting event.
For those looking for a more informal evening, Savour Bubbles ($99, 7.30-10pm) is a progressive-style tasting at Masa’s Bar & Grill focusing on sparkling wines and terroir expressive varietals from nine Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country winemakers. Carefully selected wines will perfectly pair with the international flavours prepared by the Sun Peaks culinary team, a great way to kick off a weekend of food, wine and ski.
On Saturday December 8th, Uncork Your Senses at The Annex ($99, 6.30-9pm) rounds out the weekend with an elegant evening of food and wine, featuring twelve of the region’s most respected wineries. Explore a cornucopia of food and wine while discovering the diversity of Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country and the BC culinary scene. Host venue, The Annex, is the mountain’s popular day lodge within the vibrant village base that will be transformed for the evening festivities.
At all three events, the delicious portfolio of Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country will be expertly paired with food from the Sun Peaks Resort culinary team, featuring local Okanagan and BC ingredients. Highlights include Misoyaki wild BC salmon with artisan greens and wasabi-yuzu dressing (Uncork Your Senses), Okanagan winter vegetable pakoras (Savour Bubbles), Brohm Lake duck confit with lentil and root vegetable cassolette and steamed Quadra Island halibut cheeks with soy vinaigrette (Savour the Sun at Sunburst).
