Penticton’s BRODO Kitchen to compete at Canada’s Great Kitchen Party

Grant Thornton LLP lends support to culinary team

Armed with a fantastic dish, Okanagan wine, and a lot of local support, Chef Paul Cecconi of BRODO Kitchen in downtown Penticton is heading to Victoria with a culinary team to compete at round one of Canada’s Great Kitchen Party.

Formerly known as Gold Medal Plates, Canada’s Great Kitchen Party hosts regional chef competitions around the country, culminating in the Canadian Culinary Championships in early 2019 in Kelowna.

“It is an honour to compete, and the whole team at BRODO was thrilled when the invitation came in,” says Chef Paul Cecconi. “We’re cooking against some of the best chefs in the west, and when we reached out for some support, Grant Thornton stepped up.”

Along with a myriad of suppliers sending ingredients for the competition, Grant Thornton is sponsoring the team in an effort to continue their support of local businesses in the community.

“We are thrilled to be sponsoring BRODO Kitchen, Chef Paul and his team at Canada’s Great Kitchen Party competition.  This is a great opportunity for Chef Paul to share the team’s incredible talent in the region,” says Chris Browne, Partner, Grant Thornton LLP. “The Okanagan is fast becoming a destination for foodies, and we are pleased to help BRODO represent Penticton.”

The competition dish features white chanterelles, local Ocean Wise seafood and a deeply-flavoured ‘brodo’ (broth in Italian), the full description to be revealed at the competition, and will be paired with Township 7’s 2016 Reserve Chardonnay. Ingredients are being supplied by Codfather’s Seafood and Centennial Foods.

The winner of the regional competition being held October 25th at the Victoria Conference Centre will be advanced to the finale, the Canadian Culinary Championships, to compete with chefs from across the country.
