the Vancouver Art Gallery from January 21 – 27
eighth delicious year
Street Food City, Dine Out Vancouver Festival’s hugely popular “food truck pod” featuring some of the Lower Mainland’s best and most affordable mobile eateries, returns for its eighth annual edition. Taking over the renovated north plaza at the Vancouver Art Gallery (recently renamed šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énk Square as part of the city’s First Nations reconciliation initiatives), the food truck festival runs Monday, January 21st to Sunday, January 27th.
More than 20 food trucks and carts will rotate throughout the week — meaning you’ll want to check back daily. From Disco Cheetah’s Korean-style tacos, burritos and rice bowls; to Rolling Cashew’s array of good-enough-for-a-carnivore vegan options; to Via Tevere Express’s Neapolitan sandwiches baked in a 900-degree wood-fired oven — there truly is something for everyone. Be sure to save room for dessert: Cannoli King will be standing by with authentic Italian pastries, while Slavic Rolls turns out crispy baked cinnamon rolls with a variety of decadent fillings.
Plentiful onsite tables mean you can feast with co-workers and friends while your meal is still fresh and hot as can be. Tents provided by sponsor EVO Car Share will ensure potential rain doesn’t dampen the fun! Further enlivening the scene will be music courtesy of JackFM (broadcasting live from the plaza) on Monday, while Friday through Sunday will feature an array of live DJs (specially curated by Siegel Entertainment) between noon and 4pm.
Tourism Vancouver, StreetFood Vancouver Society and the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association (DVBIA) present this informal branch of Dine Out. Partial proceeds from this event will help support the BC Hospitality Foundation.
“This eighth annual edition of Street Food City is testament to the event’s ongoing popularity,” says Lucas Pavan, Manager, Membership & Dine Out Vancouver Festival, Tourism Vancouver. “Dine Out Vancouver is better than ever this year, with hundreds of restaurants participating throughout its 17 days — including, for the first time, special brunch menus. We’re especially excited for our guests to dig into both new and returning culinary events that include everything from wine pairing dinners, dessert how-tos, to wine and beer tours.”
