Spring culinary events at Tofino Resort + Marina’s 1909 Kitchen

#TofinoEats Chef Series continues with Chef Alex Chen from Boulevard 
and a Mexican feast by Chef Paul Moran


1909 Kitchen at Tofino Resort + Marina is excited to announce two upcoming culinary events, as part of their popular #TofinoEats Chef Series.


On Saturday March 9th, 1909 Kitchen’s Chef Paul Moran will draw on his experience at the legendary Pujol in Mexico City to host a Mexican celebration, with a menu featuring dishes that were inspired by his time working there. Highlights include: rock snapper ceviche, handmade tostadas, guacamole, jalepeño; wood fired zucchini, salsa verde, wild cress and oregano; and beef tenderloin carne asada tacos, tortillas, wild herbs, grilled pineapple, habanero salsa.


On April 27th, Chef Moran will welcome Chef Alex Chen from Vancouver’s Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar to Tofino for an ocean-inspired collaboration dinner. Chef Chen is well acquainted with fresh seafood and award-winning cuisine – recently awarded Chef of the Year at the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards he has also won both the Canadian Culinary Championship title and Iron Chef Canada. Menu highlights include: Humboldt squid tagliatelle, puttanesca garnish (Boulevard); and crispy shiitakes stuffed with squid, charred maple + kelp dashi (1909 Kitchen).

“We have access to an incredibly unique list of ingredients provided by Tofino’s oceans, shorelines and forests,” says Chef Paul Moran, an experienced forager who works with a seasonally changing menu. “We are excited to welcome some exceptional chef talent to Tofino to share what we do and to inspire innovative and world-class dining experiences for our guests.”


Past #TofinoEats Chef Series dinners include Chef Jeff Van Geest from Miradoro Restaurant in Oliver; Chef Angus An from Maenam in Vancouver; Chef Hilary Nguy from Temaki Sushi in Vancouver; and Chef David Hawksworth from Hawksworth Restaurant Group in Vancouver.


This fall, award-winning sushi chef, Chef Tojo of Tojo’s in Vancouver, will continue the #TofinoEats Chef Series with a partnered dinner at 1909 Kitchen, in collaboration with Chef Paul Moran. More details to follow.
