CINCO DE MAYO CELEBRATIONS, PATIO LAUNCHES
In celebration of Cinco de Mayo on Sunday, May 5, Tacofino will feature tall cans of Tecate at all locations for $5 and mariachi groups providing a Cinco soundtrack at its Gastown Taco Bar (15 W Cordova St.) with Las Estrellas de Vancouver performing from 1 to 2 p.m. and La Santísima entertaining the nighttime crowd from 7 to 8 p.m. Over town at Ocho (8 E 5th Ave.), Las Estrellas will take centre stage at Tacofino’s newest location in Mount Pleasant from 5 to 7 p.m.

Vancouver’s only all-female mariachi ensemble, Las Estrellas comprises a diverse group of musicians that performs at concerts and festivals both locally and abroad, while La Santísima is a double-guitar vaquero (cowboy) duo originally hailing from Nueva Rosita Coahuila, Mexico that features a mix of traditional Latin, mariachi, salsa and rumba flamenco stylings as well as more modern tunes.

The Cinco celebrations will lead directly into the official launch of patio season at the Gastown Taco Bar, Yaletown Burrito Bar (1025 Mainland St.) and Oasis (122-1050 W Pender St.) locations, with all three restaurants celebrating the occasion by offering patio-friendly pints of Good Company Lager for $4 from Monday, May 6 through Sunday, May 12.
