Gordon Fitzpatrick, President of Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards, is pleased to announce that their winery was the recipient of a gold medal at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards 2019. Amongst the 16,800 entries submitted to Decanter our 2014 Fitz Blanc de Blancs stood out achieving a Gold Award with a score of 95 points.
“We are thrilled by this international recognition for a sparkling wine from the Okanagan Valley”, notes Gordon Fitzpatrick who only opened the doors to their new facility in the Spring of 2017. “We firmly believe that our unique site at our historic Greata Ranch is ideally suited to crafting world-class traditional method sparkling wines. We have all the right ingredients starting with 23-year-old Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines grown on a site which retains wonderful natural acidity. Our purpose built, gravity flow sparkling wine facility, and temperature-controlled caves along with state of the art equipment, skillfully managed by our winemaker Sarah Bain, enables us to craft fresh, crisp and complex estate grown wines. And best of all we still have approximately 50 cases left for sale at our Wine Shop and for select restaurant accounts.”
After 27 years of developing CedarCreek Estate Winery into one of Canada’s premium wineries resulting in two Canadian Winery of the Year awards, the Fitzpatrick’s have transformed their historic Greata Ranch property into a stand‑alone boutique winery offering remarkable on-site hospitality experiences. The new winery, named Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards, is located just south of Peachland and was recognized as the Best Small Winery in British Columbia at the National Wine Awards of Canada 2018.
