Fraserhood Hangout Hits The Ice with Nightly Big-Screen Hockey Games, Sunday Movies, New Starting Lineup of Local Craft Beer and Seven-Days-a-Week Happy Hours
The full slate of action on tap at Bells and Whistles this fall includes the following:
BIG-SCREEN MOVIES, NIGHTLY NHL ACTION
Die-hard hockey fans can join friends, hoist a beer and cheer on their favourite teams every night at Bells and Whistles now that the big screens are showing NHL Centre Ice, which delivers up to 37 regular-season, out-of-market NHL games per week regardless of blackout restrictions.Bells and Whistles will also continue giving cinephiles a front-row seat to classic cult films during its popular Sunday Night Movie Series, which continues throughout the fall with big-screen, surround-sound showings of: Beetlejuice, Oct. 20; The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Marathon, Oct. 27; Airplane!, Nov. 3; Pineapple Express, Nov. 10; Men in Black, Nov. 17; The Princess Bride, Nov. 24; and Die Hard, Dec. 1.
NEW FOOD, CORE BEER LINEUP
Joining the new food menu at Bells and Whistles are two holdovers from the restaurant’s recent ‘Wünderbar’ Oktoberfest pop-up: the plant-based ‘Beyond Bratwurst’, available as a substitution for any item on the Hot Dog Happy Hour menu, and Warm Pretzel Buns with honey mustard dip. Other new food additions include the Fall Fling salad (butter lettuce, arugula, green apple, toasted hazelnuts, dates, pumpkin seeds, pecorino romano, lemon vinaigrette) and two new sundaes featuring real-milk, Foothills Creamery soft serve: the Southern Dandy (vanilla soft serve, buttered pecans, waffle bits, iced tea crystals) and the Rocky Roadhouse(chocolate soft serve, pretzels, Skor bits and marshmallows).Craft beer lovers can also sample the best of the local brewery scene courtesy of a new core list that includes: Bridge Brewing’s ‘Wunderbar’ Kölsch; Strange Fellows’ ‘Talisman’ Pale Ale; Persephone’s ‘Irish Dry’ Stout; Strathcona’s ‘Crispy’ Radler; Four Winds’ ‘Huftgold’ Pilsner; Parkside’s ‘Dreamboat’ Hazy IPA; Twin Sails’ ‘Con Leche’ Milk Stout.
EXTENDED HAPPY HOURS
There are two more reasons to get ‘happy’ this fall at Bells and Whistles now that the restaurant has added its popular Happy Hour food and drink specials to the Friday and Saturday rotation.Available from 3 to 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close, the Bells and Whistles Happy Hours offer guests drink specials like Negronis or glasses of Bench 1775 Pinot Gris or Lock & Worth Merlot for $7 in addition to food features that include $5 Classic Hot Dogs and $7 Chili Cheese and Chicago Dogs. On Fridays and Saturdays, guests can also enjoy all-day double highballs or a pint of Parallel 49 Craft Pilsner and a Pickleback for $8.
