NUTCRACKER AFTERNOON TEA AT FAIRMONT HOTEL VANCOUVER

Notch8 Restaurant & Bar is celebrating the magical land of sweets with a Nutcracker themed afternoon tea for the holidays. Delivering a playful twist on traditional afternoon tea, the Private Dining Room sets the stage with holiday décor and vintage story books, though the focus is sure to be on the decadent themed fare served on a Christmas tree tier.

Guests begin by selecting their preferred choice of Fairmont’s Lot 35 Tea to sip on, with the Creamy Earl Grey – a black tea with cornflower petals and delicious cream flavour – being a favorite of servers and guests alike.

The culinary experience starts with a Porcini Mushroom Hot Cocoa topped with bitter chocolate marshmallow, followed by Ginger Mont Blanc Babka and Fruitcake Scone served with clotted cream, marmalade and black cassis curd. Savoury items include the ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’ with candy cane stripe beetroot, goat cheese and pine dust, the ‘Clara’ made of duck confit, umeboshi plums, crepe, scallion and accented with ink lace, a ‘Mother Ginger’ with ginger gravlax, cucumber, herb neufchatel on rye bread, and the ‘Drosselmeyer’ featuring mustard orange honey turkey, stuffing, brussel sprout leaves and smoked cranberry. Sweet treats from the in-house Pastry Shop complete the Afternoon Tea with items like the ‘Mouse King’ a salted caramelia on cocao sable, the ‘Nutcracker Prince’ a Christmas cake chestnut drum, ‘The Ballerina’ a Victoria sponge on a speculoos cookie with raspberry cream, ‘The Soldier’ a peppermint patty covered in dark chocolate, and the ‘Snow Queen’ a cranberry pistachio almond nougat.

For tiny tots, a Children’s Tea is offered with kid-friendly tea sandwiches, scones, and other delicious sweets. Additionally, Notch8 is pleased to offer options catering to guests with specific dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, as well as dietary preferences including vegetarian and vegan diets with advanced notice at time of booking.

Nutcracker Afternoon Tea runs from November 21st – December 31st, 2019, (excluding Dec. 24th & 25th), with daily sittings at 11AM, 1PM & 3PM. Adults $79, Children $39.5 (ages 12 & under).
