Township 7 Vineyards & Winery Celebrates Two Decades of Excellence
B.C. Winery helps establish new wine industry scholarship with the BCHF

Township 7 Vineyards & Winery is proud to announce their twentieth anniversary.  To celebrate their two decades of success, the winery collaborated with the BC Hospitality Foundation (BCHF) to establish a new British Columbia Wine Industry Scholarship & Education (BC WISE) fund.  Township 7 was founded July 7, 2000 in the Township of Langley, and since that time has expanded with an additional winery and estate vineyards located in the Okanagan.

“Our story began on July 7, 2000 in the 7th Township of Langley.   I’ve been reflecting on how far we’ve come in the two decades since.  We’re thankful to have had incredible community support, enabling us to grow from a small Langley winery, to acquiring our Naramata Bench winery and Blue Terrace Vineyard in Oliver, and to focus on a premium portfolio of small lot wines with elevated new packaging.  We’ve also been honoured with such incredible accolades –- with our Chardonnay served to her Majesty the Queen — and more recently Seven Stars Polaris awarded Best Canadian Sparkling at the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships in London. All of this would ultimately not be possible without a stellar team, with Mary McDermott leading our winemaking efforts since 2014,” said Mike Raffan, General Manager, Township 7 Vineyards & Winery.  “Now with it being our 20th anniversary, we believe it’s important to give back to the community and foster the next generation of wine industry talent. We’re thrilled to deepen our relationship with the BCHF, and build on the $5,000 donation we raised this spring in our Support, Ship & Sip charity campaign. We hope by establishing this new B.C. wine industry scholarship for students in winemaking, viticulture and wine business administration this creates a long term legacy that helps support the wine industry into the future.”

The BCHF’s Executive Director, Dana Harris, said, “I am so happy to work with wineries like Township 7 in the hospitality sector.  It’s  important to foster the education of up-and-coming individuals in the field and this new wine industry scholarship will help with the skills needed for the world class wine being made here in B.C.  We’re grateful for the support we receive from within our own community and are excited to partner with Township 7 and other wine companies on this new BC WISE fund which will be accepting applications from B.C. residents this fall.”

Another element of Township 7’s twentieth is the launch of three new wine tiers that will help better distinguish their expanded offerings. The Provenance, Benchmark and upcoming Infinite Series, have elevated new packaging, with the first wines just released and additional wines available in the coming months. Finally, to kick off Township 7’s virtual twentieth anniversary celebrations, the winery is holding a photo contest. For 7 weeks July 7 – August 25, each week they are giving away a $77 gift card. Enter by following the winery on Instagram and posting a Township 7 memory with the hashtag #20township7.  Subscribe to the e-newsletter subscriber, for a bonus entry.  Township 7 will be posting retro photos every week as well.
