Wednesday Wine Reviews with @Sam_WineTeacher

2020 Chardonnay (Reserve)
Deep Roots
Naramata, BC
$26.00
Golden yellow with medium intensity. The nose shows aromas of Golden Delicious apple, lemon, a touch of grilled pineapple, caramel and almond.  Very good balance.  Creamy on the palate with mouth-watering fruit that follows the nose.  A medium-long finish. Very good value.

2022 Gewürztraminer
Meyer Family Vineyards
Okanagan Falls, BC
$17.48
Very pale straw with light intensity.  The nose is perfumed with undertones of apple, apricot, citrus, pear, and melon.  Good balance.  The palate reflects the nose followed by a medium-plus finish.  A good-value patio wine.

NV Mead (Cloud Horse)
Meadow Vista
Kelowna, BC
$22.52
For those who may not be familiar with Mead, it is a wine made from honey.  They can be flavoured with fruit, herbs, or spices and they tend to be dry, not sweet wines, so don’t be afraid to give them a try.  Lemon yellow with medium-minus intensity. Aromas of lemon, orange blossoms, honey, fresh herbs, ripe Red Delicious apple on the nose.  Good balance.  Apple, cinnamon, honey, citrus, clove, and red grapefruit on the palate followed by a medium-plus finish.  This would pair well with anything you would serve with an aromatic white wine such as fresh fish or shellfish.

2022
Heist (Rosé)
Moon Curser
Osoyoos, BC
$26.99
This blend of 95% Syrah co-fermented with 5% Malbec is cherry red with medium-minus intensity.  Cherries, fresh cream, strawberries, cranberries, melon, orange zest, and rhubarb on the nose.  Good balance and medium-bodied with a creamy texture.  The flavours echo the nose followed by a medium-long finish.  Bring on some BBQ!

2020 Fifty Fifty Reserve
Pacific Breeze
New Westminster, BC
$35.00
Garnet red with deep intensity.  Dark berries, cherries, plum, blueberries, red berries, stewed plum, tarragon, and vanilla on the nose.  Good balance with smooth ripe tannins.  The flavours carry over from the nose followed by a medium-plus finish.  Age-worthy for another five to ten years.  Decant if opening now and serve with soy chicken or BBQ pork.
