Summer Vibes with Blasted Church Wines

Blasted Church 3rd generation marks the renaissance of the Blasted Church brand with its focus on high-quality, expressive wines. This change to their new labels symbolizes the renewal and remaking. This renaissance is realised in the remarkable fruit they grow – from the Skaha Bench to Osoyoos – and how they farm them with intention, craft wines that reflect their terroir and have a damn good time doing it.

These are classical wines for a modern world.

Blaufränkisch Rosé 2025

Vintage: 2025

Appellation: Skaha Bench

Rosé all day.

Strawberries and cream, tart red fruit, and a savoury finish.

Winemaking

Our estate-grown Blaufränkisch was hand-harvested on September 19th, 2025. In the cellar, 50% of the fruit was whole cluster pressed to preserve the vibrancy and clean fruit expression and the remaining 50% was given 3 hours of skin contact to build the mouthfeel and aromatic profile of the wine before being pressed to tank. After settling for 48 hours, the juice was racked to a mix of neutral French oak barrels for fermentation and aging for 6 months. After 6 months, the wine was racked to stainless steel tank, where it rested for a month to restore the tension to the wine before bottling.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Salmon pink.

Nose: Strawberries and cream, pink grapefruit, raspberry, cranberry, and white pepper.

Palate: Red berries and sour cherries give way to beautiful acidity and texture through the mid-palate and into the long savoury finish. There is a lot of complexity from start to finish with the 2025 Blaufränkisch Rosé that continues to unfold with time in the glass.

Pairing: Roasted chicken, Cacio e Pepe, grilled salmon, and soft cheeses.

Awards

Bronze Medal – National Wine Awards of Canada 2026

Label

The Rosé label features a Renaissance-inspired vision of Mary Magdalene.

A much enjoyed Rosé that consistently reaches the peak of flavur. Wonderful fresh berries are followed by a touch of citrus.

Body that is more than light but less than medium keeping it crisp and equally refreshing. Just the right touch of acidity with a lingering finish.

Viognier 2025

Vintage: 2025

Variety: Viognier

Appellation: Okanagan Valley

Do you even read Thrasher?

Hardcore stone fruits lead, tropical fruit, blossoms and orange finish the trick.

Wine Making

Our 2025 Viognier combines fruit from our estate vineyard on the Skaha Bench (Viognier) and the Red Brick Vineyard (Viognier and Marsanne) located on the east bench of Osoyoos. Each block of fruit was hand-harvested at its ideal balance of sugar, acid, and phenolic ripeness and were handled separately until blending in the months following harvest.

In the cellar, some of the lots were destemmed and given a few hours of skin contact to enhance the aromatic intensity and mouthfeel of the wine, while other lots were whole-cluster pressed to preserve the bright fruit profile and acidity. After settling in tank, the juices were racked to a mix of French oak barrels for fermentation and aging. After a few months in barrel, the cellar team decided on the final blend, racked the wines to tank to assemble the blend, and put the wine back to barrel for a few more months of aging ahead of bottling.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Straw

Nose: Ripe apricot and peach, tangerine, vanilla, and white florals

Palate: A rounded, rich wine with notes of ripe stone fruit and honey. These notes carry through into the mid-palate, where a nice textural component builds, and the acidity works to balance the richness of the wine, keeping it from becoming heavy on the palate. Instead, it preserves a beautiful, fresh character on the finish.

Pairings

Pad Thai, lamb tagine with apricots, or buttery cheeses would all work well with this versatile wine.

Awards

Silver Medal, 90 Points – National Wine Awards of Canada

Label

Viognier’s label was inspired by Nicolas Poussin (1594-1665). An angel trades in her wings for a pair of wheels at a local skatepark.

Intense flavours of stone fruits with a faint touch of the tropics invites you to savour the aromas of the wine first. Take your time to enjoy the essence.

Lovely acidity but with a richness that envelops the palate with its full bodied freshness.

Unorthodox Chardonnay 2025

Vintage: 2025

Variety: Chardonnay

Appellation: Skaha Bench

All hands on deck.

Waves of bright floral and spice, and a splash of stone fruit all supported by a vibrant undercurrent of fresh citrus.

Winemaking

Our estate grown Chardonnay Musqué was harvested in two separate picks: the first on September 5th from our older block of 37-year-old vines, and the second on September 8th from our block of younger vines. Both lots were destemmed and given a few hours of skin contact before pressing to extract more aromatic compounds from the skins to really express the varietal characteristics of the Chardonnay Musqué. After 48 hours of cold settling the clean juice was racked off heavy lees to stainless steel tanks for fermentation and aging to preserve the freshness of the wine. The two different blocks provided a great palette from which to blend the final wine, with lemon zest and orange blossom characterizing the first pick, and more tropical, muscat notes from the second pick.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Pale straw.

Nose: Orange blossom, lemon, tropical notes of lychee, and a spicy muscat character.

Palate: A nicely rounded wine with notes of citrus, tropical fruit, pear, and spice. The richness of the wine builds through the mid-palate that carries through into the well balanced, spice-laden finish. As always, the Unorthodox Chardonnay is a unique expression of Chardonnay, a wine that will appeal to everyone, even if they fall into the ABC (Anything But Chardonnay) club!

Pairings: Halibut, buttery crab, or a citrusy roasted chicken.

Label

The Unorthodox Chardonnay label is inspired by Sandro Botticelli (1440 – 1510). We can see the goddess Venus aboard a ferry, headed for fun on one of BC’s favourite island escapes.

A floral note that opens with Mandarin orange and pleasant lighter stone fruits.

The orange continues to the palate where it joins a hint of yellow grapefuit in the background followed by a hit of star anise. A very drinkable Chardonnay that improves with air and a less cooling time.

Sauvignon Blanc 2025

Vintage: 2025

Variety: Sauvignon Blanc

Beach please. This wine is all sunshine & citrus.

Winemaker’s Notes

This wine blends Sauvignon Blanc from our Skaha Bench estate vineyard and Road 1 Vineyard in West Oliver with Semillon from the Aspen Vineyard north of Osoyoos. Harvest began September 12 on the estate, followed by Road 1 on September 15, and Aspen Vineyard on September 30.

Winemaking combined whole cluster pressing, destemmed fruit, and a short cold soak on select lots to build texture and aromatic complexity, creating a diverse range of components for the final blend. Following pressing, the Sauvignon Blanc was fermented and aged in a mix of stainless steel and French oak, while the Semillon was entirely barrel fermented and aged in French oak. After several months, the blend was assembled and returned to tank and barrel for further aging before bottling.

Tasting notes

Colour: Pale straw.

Nose: A beautiful combination of tropical and herbaceous notes. Gooseberry, lime, lemon, and pink grapefruit.

Palate: Vibrant notes of lemon, lime and pink grapefruit that carries into the herbaceous, textural mid-palate. The texture of the wine carries through into the well-balanced, long finish. A bright, clean, and varietally true expression of a Bordeaux-inspired Okanagan Valley Sauvignon Blanc.

Food Pairing

Seafood, think mussels or oysters. The wine would also pair beautifully with a roasted chicken, or goat cheese.

Awards

Bronze Medal – National Wine Awards of Canada 2026

Label

The Sauvignon Blanc label is inspired by Giovanni Bellini Ingres (1430-1516). An angel descends for a little beach-bumming in Vancouver.

2025 Vintage

The 2025 vintage came with a lot of optimism as our vineyards continued to rebound after the devastating 2024 cold event. The quality across the board is quite high in the 2025 wines. There is a beautiful fruit expression and our hallmark acidity that keeps our wines vibrant and fresh. 2025 marked a return to a normal crop load and full cellars of very high-quality wines.

Labels

The “Renaissance Series” features figures from classical paintings, plucked from their holy surroundings and placed into modern-day scenarios.

Labels feature backdrops of actual photographs taken from across BC. The photographs are a joint effort between the Brandever team and Alastair Bird, a local Vancouver photographer. Characters on each label have been digitally recreated by Shreya Shetty, a concept artist based in Los Angeles, CA. The characters are then photo-shopped into the photograph. The characters are inspired by the Old Masters, a group of seminal figures who influenced the Western art world pre-1800’s.
