Local Restaurant Group Pitches in to Show Support for Okanagan Communities Hit Hard by Wildfires Raging Throughout Interior
Glowbal Restaurant Group is showing its support for the residents and employees in the Okanagan region who have been affected by the recent wildfires raging across the Interior by donating $5 from every BC bottle of wine sold at its five Vancouver-area restaurants throughout the month of August.
The initiative, which will include bottles already sold as well as those purchased for the remainder of the month, will take centre stage at Glowbal (590 W Georgia), Coast (1054 Alberni St.), Italian Kitchen (860 Burrard St.), Black + Blue and The Roof (1032 Alberni St.), and Riley’s Fish & Steak (200 Burrard St.).
Funds raised from the sale of the BC wines will be donated directly to the SOS Wildfire Response Fund launched by the Community Foundation of South Okanagan and Similkameen. All donations to the fund will remain in the region and be used to support wildfire-affected residents and community recovery efforts.
“The Okanagan is an incredibly important part of our province and our restaurant industry, and we have many team members with deep connections to the region,” says Glowbal Restaurant Group CEO Emad Yacoub. “We wanted to find a meaningful way to support the people and communities being impacted by these fires, while also continuing to champion BC’s wine industry. We hope our guests will join us in showing their support throughout August.”
The fires have forced more than 20,000 people to leave their homes in the Okanagan Valley, one of Canada’s premier wine regions and a tourist haven known for orchards and vineyards.
