A visit to the Steveston Seafood House

I saw an online coupon for the Steveston Seafood House and decided to give it a try. We drove out there on a beautiful clear winter afternoon and enjoyed the sunset at Garry Point Park before heading to dinner.  I had confused the restaurant with one of the ones on the pier, but found it quickly after checking the address.  It was only a block away.  We went early and initially there were only a couple of tables seated, but by the time we left it was quite busy for a Monday evening.  We had a five-course, prix fixe dinner, which included a beef carpaccio appetizer, coconut prawns, a house mixed greens salad and cedar plank salmon with tiramisu for dessert.

 SSH Salad

I enjoyed the bite of the red onion and the tang of the capers on the paper-thin beef carpaccio and the coconut prawns were very tasty, though I would choose another appie next time, as I am not a huge fan of coconut.  The salad was fresh and the lemon made a nice addition.  The salmon was perfectly cooked and it was not a small portion by any means.  I enjoyed all the vegetables that accompanied it – green beans, asparagus, zucchini and red pepper.  We passed on the tiramisu and opted for the crème caramel.  The service was good and quite personal.  We never felt rushed.

 SSH Planked Salmon

I was pleased with their impressive selection of wines.  We enjoyed Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc, Blasted Church Gewürztraminer and Kettle Valley Pinot Noir with our dinner, which were all offered by the glass.

There were many other items on their menu, which caught my attention, so I will definitely stop by again when I am in Steveston.
