2016 Merlot (Rattlesnake Vineyard)
Second Chapter
Oliver, BC
$35.00
Oliver’s Rattlesnake Vineyard on the Golden Mile has very sandy soil. The grapes here on the west side of the valley bask in the morning sun and then cool in the afternoon shade which helps to ensure freshness and good structure. The wine spent twenty months in French oak. The wine is garnet/black in colour with deep intensity. Plum, blackberry, mulberry, earth, and chocolate bottom notes on the nose. The balance is very good with firm ripe tannins. The palate opens with blackberry, cherry, mulberry, plum, toast and currant undertones followed by a medium-long finish with lingering blackberry flavour. Suitable for cellaring for an additional five to ten years. Decanting helped this wine open significantly.
