Say Farewell to 2016 with Share Plates and Cocktails at Wild Rice

Whether you are a couple looking for a quiet romantic evening, or a group of friends wanting to celebrate over appys and drinks before heading off to a party, Wild Rice’s New Year’s Eve Share Plates are ideal. “In Chinese tradition, festive meals are meant to be shared,” explains owner Andrew Wong.

This year Chef Dante has created two luxurious share plates. Both are meant to feed two people and offer great value to the budget-conscious – something we can all appreciate after the excesses of the holiday shopping season.

The Appy Share Plate makes a wonderful light meal or starter course if you are heading off elsewhere for the evening.  It is priced at only $25 (for two people) and includes:

Coho Salmon Tartare

crispy wontons, sweet soy reduction

***

Oceanwise Garlic Prawns

coconut cajun cream

***

Albacore Tuna Rice Roll

organic greens, mint, cilantro, red pepper garlic pureé

The more substantial Dinner Share Plate is equally well-priced at only $50 for two people :

 Salt Spring Mussels

in tamarind broth, bok choy, cherry tomato

***

Pan-Seared Salmon Fillet

Asian ginger BBQ glaze, rice pilaf, seasonal vegetables

***

Tempura Halibut Cheek

House-made  ponzu sauce, sautéed mushrooms

These dishes are made to go with cocktails, and on New Year’s Eve, all Wild Rice’s signature cocktails are on special that night. So you can feel truly decadent as you sip a Wild Dragon (fresh basil, mint leaves, coconut water, lime juice, ginger beer, rum, sprite) or a festively-coloured Crushed Velvet (gin, Alize, cranberry juice, sprite, berry syrup, splash of Campari) for only $6 or 2 oz-cocktails like the Magnolia (gin, lemon, berry syrup, dash of Chambord) or Chop Chop (vanilla Stoli, Van Gogh espresso, Tia Maria) for only $9.

If you are not a seafood fan, or just have to end the year with Wild Rice’s famed Spicy Kung Po Chicken or Smoked Duck Breast, Wild Rice will also be offering its regular à la carte menu. The last seating is at 9:15 p.m. so everyone can be off home or to a party before the magic midnight hour. Reserve now to ensure you get a table.

Please note Holiday Hours – Wild Rice will be closed December 24, 25 and 26 as well as on January 1.
