Provence Rings in the New Year with Glittering French Flair

2016 has been a roller coaster of a year – time to kick it out and trade it in for a brand new sparkly one.

The French know a thing or two about how to how to ring in the New Year –  lobsters, oysters, foie gras, and of course plenty of champagne.  All very chic n’est-ce pas?  This year, Provence Marinaside / TWB-The Wine Bar, are doing something a little different – they are ringing in the New Year with a celebration like you’d find in France. The restaurant and wine bar will be glammed up in sparkling champagne gold décor accented with shimmering ice sculptures.

There’ll be a special New Year’s Eve Menu featuring  luxurious versions of some of Provence’s specialties including Whole Atlantic Lobster, Prawn Cocktail and famed Seafood Platter along with a few new decadent dishes as befits a New Year celebration –  Foie Gras with Ice Wine Jelly and Toasted Brioche Salade Gourmande (smoked duck breast, confit de canard, mesclun greens, foie gras, beets, roasted winter squash) and Duo of Duck (duck leg confit and roasted duck breast, sautéed spinach, star anise braised endive, herb polenta cake, foie gras sauce). There’s even a Surf ‘n Turf – Beef Tenderloin and Lobster Provençal (haricot verts, oven dried tomatoes, pomme frites, red wine and peppercorn jus).

To help you wash it all down, and properly celebrate the occasion, Provence will feature six specially-priced sparkling wines and champagnes (from its full list of 13) on its New Year’s Eve Menu ranging from BC’s own Blue Mountain Gold Label ($13/gls $55/btl) all the way to Cristal Louis Roederer 2005 ($700/btl). After 10 p.m. all the featured bubbly will be 25 per cent off.

To set the celebratory mood, the evening will also include musical entertainment (TBA). Great food, fine wines and wonderful music coming together to welcome in 2017.

New Year’s Eve is only four weeks away, so make plans now for a very bubbly evening with French flair. Reservations are essential and can be made online or by calling 604-681-4144.
