Additional Artists Announced for 2019 TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival June 21 – July 1

Coastal Jazz & Blues Society announced today additional performances for the 34th annual TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival, taking place June 21 to July 1.

Kickstart Disability Arts and Culture celebrates its 21st year of supporting and promoting artists who identify as living with a disability with a very special concert event headlined by the incomparable singer Gaelynn Lea, a featured performance by inspirational humourist, David Roche, and a presentation by talented young painter, Mujtaba Saloojee. 

Canada’s newest operatic talents take centre stage at VOX, Vancouver Opera’s inaugural vocal competition, on April 26

Prepare to be dazzled by the next generation of Canadian opera stars at VOX, a prestigious new vocal competition taking place at Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre on April 26. The event, which takes place on the eve of opening day of the third Vancouver Opera Festival (April 27 to May 5), is set to showcase the cream of Canada’s new operatic talent.

Winners of the Sam Payne Awards for 2018 announced

Each year UBCP/ACTRA presents two Sam Payne Awards to BC based performers. The Sam Payne Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a person with an outstanding body of work in the performing arts industry. The Sam Payne Award recognizes a performer whose personal characteristics mirror those of Sam Payne.

Salmon Girl explores the world of water and salmon. Through theatre, dance, music and puppetry.

Choreographer Michelle Olson from the Tr’ondek Hwech’in First Nation and playwright Quelemia Sparrow from the Musquem First Nation bring together their respective cultural perspectives and stories to create a piece that is both meaningful and delightful to all audiences.
