Fourth annual vineyard race saw 850 runners soak up the sun and enjoy a taste of the Okanagan
Eight-hundred and fifty runners enjoyed a ‘grape escape’ last weekend at the sold-out fourth annual Half Corked Marathon.Thirsty runners sampled wines from the Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association along the route, paired with celebrated regional cuisine from local chefs, restaurateurs and café owners, as they ran, jogged or walked the 18km route. The race trail led through the incredible surrounds of Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country and brought together the region’s winemakers, chefs and producers, all of whom whole-heartedly embraced the event at the refreshment and wine tasting stations positioned along the route.
Hearty picnics and more wine were enjoyed post-run at the Finish Line Lunch and the highly anticipated pre-race Primavera dinner took place on Friday night at Church & State’s winery in the Coyote Bowl vineyard, with food prepared by Joy Road Catering’s talented team.
Inspired by the legendary Medoc Marathon in Bordeaux, the Half Corked Marathon is a celebration one of Canada’s most decorated wine regions.
Tickets for the 2015 race will be allocated via a lottery registration: follow the Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association on Twitter @UncorkTheSun or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/
