Evolve Cellars Opens Its Doors in Summerland May 16

On May 16, 2015, a new winery opens in Summerland: Evolve Cellars. Using fruit exclusively from premium vineyards in the south Okanagan Valley, Evolve Cellars is a must-visit for this summer’s Bottleneck Drive Tour. Evolve Cellars is the newest winery on the Bottleneck Drive, just off Highway 97 in Summerland, opening on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Sure to become a destination for visitors to the Okanagan Valley, guests can expect to enjoy a stunning, yet affordable series of varietally-labelled wines that are fresh, fruit-forward and suited to almost any occasion.
The Grand Opening celebrations on May 16 (10am to 6pm) will be the first public tasting of the Evolve Cellars wines, and the day will feature live music from Ari Neufeld, passed canapés and winery-only specials. For those unable to visit that weekend, the wines will be showcased in Victoria on May 27 at the Bloom BC VQA trade & media tasting, and in Vancouver on May 28 at two events: the Bloom VQA trade & media tasting (2-5pm, Vancouver Convention Centre East) and at the 2nd Annual Bottleneck Drive Wine In the Garden consumer tasting (6-8:30pm, VanDusen Gardens).
The Evolve Cellars team believes that the Okanagan Valley can produce some of the best wines on the planet. Led by Christa-Lee McWatters Bond and Harry McWatters, their goal is to gently transform the fruit that Mother Nature creates, into wines that can be enjoyed by all. With that spirit in mind, they are pleased to present the first vintages from Evolve Cellars, the next project from the Encore Vineyards group of wineries, which is also home to TIME Estate Winery and the McWatters Collection.
The 100% VQA-certified Evolve Cellars line up currently includes: a bright and racy Pinot Grigio ($15.99), a smooth citrusy Riesling ($16.99, winery only), a brightly aromatic Gewürztraminer ($15.99), a tropical Pinot Blanc ($14.99), a sun-kissed unoaked Chardonnay ($15.99), a bright and lively Sauvignon Blanc ($15.99), a succulent and off-dry Rosé ($14.99), a supple yet spicy Cabernet Merlot ($18.99) and an easy drinking Pinot Noir ($19.99). Joining these soon is a trio of sparkling wines.
The winery is located at 20623 McDougald Road, in Summerland, British Columbia and the tasting room is open from 10am to 6pm daily until Thanksgiving. The grounds offer the perfect setting for a wedding or many special events, including yoga and corporate retreats.
