After more than twenty years in business, another neighbourhood gem will disappear from West 4th Avenue. Bistro Pastis has been serving diners some of the best French Onion Soup, Steak Frites, Escargot and Duck Confit Cassoulet in the city; many guests have been dining here for decades. Owner Stefen Langford purchased Bistro Pastis in 2016 and continued the restaurants traditional approach, keeping the menu simply French, but what once was a recipe for success is no longer. Langford felt the economic pinch that many restaurateurs are now feeling and was left with no other alternative than to close the bistro.
Stefan stated “I have enjoyed meeting so many new people and wonderful customers, especially while realizing my dream of owning my own restaurant. It has been an exciting time, however brief. I would like to thank my customers, employees past and present, and suppliers, many of whom have been so helpful to me.”
The restaurant was adored by the critics, Mia Stainsby of The Vancouver Sun called the spot an “Elegant French bistro with a lightness of being. A jewel.”
Tim Pawsey in The Vancouver Courier stated it had an “Understated manner, consistently excellent dishes make Pastis stand out …Pastis can do no wrong.”
Bistro Pastis even won the Georgia Straight`s `Golden Plate` for `Best French Restaurant` in 2017, readers choice, but its fate is now sealed and the last service will take place Sunday, August 19th
As a final closing special Pastis will offer a special three course menu for just $39.
Soup de Jour or Green Salad or Pâté and
Beef Bourguignon or Duck Confit Salad or Sockeye Salmon and
Crème Brulée or Chocolate Mousse
Don’t miss the opportunity to say a final goodbye.
Stefen and all of the staff at Bistro Pastis wish you all bonne chance and the new owners all the best for the future. |
