GSM 2017
This impressive wine opens with lifted aromas of pomegranate, red cherry, wild game, white pepper and cured charcuterie meats. The palate is big and silky, with nicely polished tannins, sweet red fruit, dark plum, and pretty notes of violets, white pepper, citrus rind, and vanilla bean. Pair the wine with prosciutto and other cured meats, mild cheeses, lamb, veal, and venison.
The 2017 growing season was an interesting and highly unusual roller coaster ride! Higher than normal rainfall and an alarmingly cool spring gave way one of the warmest, driest summers in 40 years. Smoke from forest fires in other areas of the province reflected much of the heat away from the vines, resulting in high flavour intensity, moderate sugars, solid levels of acidity, which are the 3 attributes required for a great vintage! Each variety and parcel of fruit was picked at its optimal point of flavour development for the GSM style, which is always at the very end of the season. About half of the grapes for the 2017 GSM came from the Blind Creek Vineyard in the Similkameen valley, with the other half coming from our vineyards in the Okanagan Valley.
51.4% Grenache, 34% Mourvedre, 14.6% Syrah
The grapes for the 2017 GSM were all carefully sorted, and destemmed without crushing, into small open-top vessels for true small lot fermentation. The Grenache and Mourvedre were co-fermented with Syrah skins from earlier fermentations. This practice adds to the complexity, colour, and tannin structure of the lighter Grenache and Mourvedre grapes. The caps were punched down by hand thrice daily for about 10 days and the wine was then pressed off in our wooden basket press to commence the maturation process in a combination of older French oak barrels and a small percentage of new barrels. The final blend was assembled in May 2019, where a small amount of Syrah was added to finish off the wine before bottling a few weeks later. We strived to make this wine primarily an expression of Grenache and Mourvedre, with Syrah being added to round out the mouthfeel and tannin structure.
Pair with prosciutto and other cured meats, mild cheeses, lamb, veal, and venison.

Riesling 2018
Fresh and fun. Pair it with spicy Asian food, chicken or seafood. The long-awaited return of the Road 13 Riesling is finally here. Different from our past Rieslings this one is a luscious, off-dry style of wine that was all about fun and frivolity.
2018 marks a long-awaited return to Riesling for Road 13! After tasting many of the Rieslings in our library in addition to some fine examples from around the world, we debated the matter of style for this new Riesling. After much tasting, we decided to go in a different direction from the past and make a luscious, off-dry style of wine that was all about fun and frivolity. We believe we have succeeded! The 2018 Riesling is a model of fresh, pure fruit. Beautiful floral tones of jasmine, lime zest, nectarine and granny smith apples beckon you into taking your first sip. On the palate, these flavours are amplified in an amazing mouthfeel that is luscious, sweet, and round, but with a piercing acidity that ‘is so bright you gotta wear shades’.
The 2018 growing season was another challenging campaign. The season got off to a good start and fruit set was excellent, allowing for a larger crop compared to the previous year. Things progressed quite well until about mid-july when, just as in 2017, smoke from Forest fires in the Pacific Northwest blocked out a lot of sunlight and slowed down ripening. The result was intense flavours, lower potential alcohol levels, and increased acidity levels in the wine – perfect conditions for making iconic Riesling! The grapes for the 2018 Riesling came exclusively from well-established estate vineyards owned by Road 13 on the Golden Mile Bench. During harvest the grapes were sampled bi-weekly to measure flavour development and sugar content. The Terraces Riesling was picked on September 19th, and the nearby Gully block was picked on October 1st. Each parcel of Riesling was picked at its optimal point of flavour development (golden yellow berries) for the intended style of this intense, fresh, fruity wine.
We recommend pairing this amazing Riesling with spicy Asian food of all persuasions, milder cheeses, and lighter meats like duck, pork, chicken and seafood.
Syrah Malbec 2017
Intense and lush. Pair with grilled meat or anything wrapped in bacon.
Very dark in colour with purplish tones, this wine opens with aromas of blueberry pie, black cherry, boysenberry and vanilla. There are notes of black pepper, violets, iodine and graphite. On the palate, this wine is a veritable symphony of black fruited splendor, interwoven with notes of vanilla and cream. These intense flavours are supported by a luscious, expansive mouthfeel, abundant rich tannins, and impeccable length and balance. The overall impression is of a seductive, silky, and utterly hedonistic wine that captivates your full attention and never lets it go.

78.5% Syrah, 21.5% Malbec

If you must pair it with food, we recommend grilled red meats, duck, pork, and game (preferably wrapped with bacon). Of course, it will always pair well with various cheeses and your plans to take over the world.
