Little Engine Wines announces launch of Piccolo Virtual Tasting Collection
– Sample set provides wine enthusiasts with the opportunity to discover and sample premium quality Canadian wines, and support local artisan winery during travel restricted times
Little Engine Wines (“Little Engine”), a family owned and operated boutique artisan winery producing premium wines on the Naramata Bench of British Columbia, announced that they have launched their Piccolo Virtual Tasting Collection, which is available to wine lovers and astute wine enthusiasts. The Piccolo Virtual Tasting Collection includes 200ml bottles of Little Engine Gold Series Wines – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Merlot, and comes with a link to professionally produced, five-minute virtual tasting videos featuring Little Engine’s winemaker, Scott Robinson.
“During these unprecedented times when travel is restricted, we realize that Canadian wine lovers still want to explore and discover world-class wines, and yet support local Canadian businesses,” said Steven French, proprietor of Little Engine Wines. “Our Piccolo Virtual Tasting Collection provides the opportunity to sample three of Little Engine’s finest wines, and the exclusive virtual wine tasting videos offers the ultimate wine tasting experience while in the comfort and convenience of your own home. The Piccolo Virtual Tasting Collection can be easily purchased online and shipped directly to your door. It makes for a perfect gift or experience to enjoy together with friends and family from across the country.”
Little Engine grows their estate grapes of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Merlot on 25 acres located on the Naramata Bench just outside of Penticton, British Columbia. An additional 25 acres of managed production, compromised of key varietals of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc, are grown throughout British Columbia’s South Okanagan Valley. By focusing on sustainable vineyard practices, precise canopy management and low crop tonnage, Little Engine produces intensely concentrated fruit. Grapes are hand-picked in small passes, selected based on flavour profiles, and then blended for balance and style. In the cellar, the emphasis is on slow, cool fermentations, gentle maceration using minimal intervention winemaking methods, and a refined French Oak barrel program.
“Since 2011, when we planted our first grapes, we have been committed to producing extraordinary wines by providing exceptional care and attention to every detail in all of our viticulture and winemaking activities. Now we are proud to say that our pursuit of excellence has paid off, and we have succeeded in creating wines that are truly remarkable,” said French. “Though we only began production in 2014, we have developed a strong following in Western Canada, yet we remain a hidden gem in the Okanagan Valley. We are excited to share with wine lovers who are seeking to discover unfound, world-class Canadian wines in their own backyard.”
Little Engine’s Silver Series wines are approachable and can be enjoyed now, while its Gold Series wines are the focus of Little Engine’s production and are complex, elevated and age-worthy. Little Engine’s Platinum Series small lot wines are only produced in minimum quantities – sometimes as little as one or two barrels, and not produced every year; only when the wine quality is considered extraordinary.
