For those of us with our feet planted more firmly on the ground our thoughts just may be turning to wine, specifically the wines of the latest Spring Releases. In this series of features, I will endeavour to update you on the new spring releases from some of my favourite British Columbia wineries.
For BC Wine lovers this is an exciting time of the year! So many new releases to discover and enjoy. Featured here two new spring releases from La Frenz.
La Frenz 2021 Sauvignon Blanc
Our Sauvignon Blanc is crafted to present a crisp, dry wine that offers aromatics of pea shoots, grapefruit and with a hint of honeysuckle. Experience mouthwatering flavours of gooseberry, ripe pear and passionfruit finishing with lingering notes of fresh cut grass and minerality.
Pair with a crisp, green papaya salad or grilled prosciutto wrapped asparagus spears.
This wine is best enjoyed in its youth when it is showcasing the great characteristics of vibrant acidity, citrus and green notes.
La Frenz 2019 Merlot
Our 2019 Merlot is a wine with both opulence and elegance, with a ripe fruit sweetness that gives way to a plush mid-palate and a generous, lengthy finish. This wine is highly aromatic with enticing notes of violets, bramble, and freshly tilled earth. On the palate, you will experience a velvety richness and generous structure. Dense flavours are abundant particularly of ripe dark plums, mocha, cedar and baking spices.
Savour the 2019 Merlot with roasted pheasant and root vegetables or pan seared, medium-rare tenderloin with red wine jus.
While the 2019 Merlot is currently quite approachable with such round tannins, we recommend cellaring under ideal conditions for up to 7 years from vintage date to truly reap the rewards of an aged well-crafted Merlot.
We are located on the stunning Naramata Bench overlooking the beautiful Lake Okanagan. Relax in the scenic serenity of the ‘Bench’ as you enjoy a seated tasting flight guided by our friendly and knowledgeable team.
