Liber Farm and Winery
Garnet red with medium-deep intensity. The nose displays aromas of plum, raspberry, cherries, red currants, dusty herbs, white pepper, and savoury notes. Good balance with fully ripe tannins. The flavours follow the nose and end in a medium-long finish with some leafy notes.
2017 Cahors (100% Malbec)
Domaine de Cause
From a family-owned winery in the southeast of France, this wine is garnet/black with deep intensity. The nose displays aromas of earth, chocolate, bramble, blueberry, plum, black olive, gravel, and white pepper. Good balance with firm ripe tannins. Earth, spice, black cherries, plum, and chocolate on the palate followed by a medium-plus finish. Very approachable, but better if aged for another three to eight years.
The fruit for this wine came from the Golden Mile Bench in Oliver. Garnet red in colour with deep intensity. The nose is a cacophony of aromas including cherries, ripe plums, violets, dusty herbs bacon, blackberry, smoke, vanilla, spice, and a hint of honeysuckle. Very well balanced. The flavours echo the nose followed by a medium-long finish. There is a lot of concentration in this wine. Be sure to give it lots of time to decant.
