We don’t like to brag… (well maybe a little) but we just have to say it – Naramata in August is basically heaven on earth. With Naramata Inn as your starting point there’s so much to enjoy from every direction. There’s a wealth of sandy beaches – both family friendly and romantically tucked away – as well as docks and wharfs just waiting for that ‘cannonballer’, sunbather and ice-cream stroller. Sun-warmed Lake Okanagan is standing by to welcome your SUP, kayak, kids, boats, floats and fishing lines. And that’s just within walking distance of the Inn!

With more than 40 acclaimed wineries, distilleries, cideries and breweries on our doorstep, visitors can enjoy an incredible taste of this amazing place in sip after sip. With views for days and an incredible walking/biking path in the Kettle Valley Rail (KVR) Trail visitors and locals soak up as many kilometres of sun-bathed flora and fauna as they choose. It’s glorious.

CULINARY HAPPENINGS

ELIZA – New Hours + Mid-Week Seafood Features+ Half-Price Bottle Promotions

Did you know Naramata Inn has an inviting, beverage-forward experience focused on the casual enjoyment of great wine, cocktails, beer and light bites? Located on our lowest level, the wine bar and adjacent outdoor patio, have long been a locals favourite. Renamed Eliza to honour the Inn’s founding matriarch, this cozy space is the place to sit down, relax, and take in our modern heritage vibe, indoors and out, on select afternoons and evenings.

Effective immediately – the informal, no-reservations wine bar will be open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 4pm to 9pm. Starting tomorrow, we’re also kicking off two refreshing weekday promotions to match the hot summer temps. Guests visiting us on Wednesdays and Thursdays can enjoy a rotating chilled seafood promotion, and select half-price bottles of Emily’s choice of bubbles or rosé served with the most delicious house-made fermented potato chips, on-the-house.

Here’s the scoop:
Wednesdays = 50% select bottles of sparkling with complimentary chips
Thursdays = 50% off select bottles of with complimentary chips
Wednesday + Thursdays = rotating $29 chilled seafood feature.

LUNCH at Naramata Inn – New Hours and Seasonal Menu Updates
Lunch is now served Wednesdays through Sundays from 11:30am to 2pm and reservations are highly recommended. The mid-season menu refresh features the best available local ingredients. Enjoy dishes like Harvest Salads, Yarrow Meadows Chicken, Naramata Inn Eggs Benedict, “What the Fungus” Mushroom Toast, an epic 63 Acres Beef Burger and more.

PICNIC – Les Dames d’Escoffier BC’s Picnic for a Cause – August 21
Naramata Inn is supporting “Picnic and Bubbles”, by offering a limited number of tickets for a decadent, pick-up-only meal in support of women in hospitality and Food Bank BC. The generous two-person picnic will be prepared by the Naramata Inn culinary team and includes Buttermilk Fried Yarrow Meadows Chicken, Jerseyland Organics Cheddar Biscuits, House-made Cultured Butter, Lotz Provisions Black Garlic Honey Drizzle, Tomato ,Stone Fruit + Basil Salad, Farmer’s Potato Salad with Smoked Trout, Pickled Mustard and Dill, and… Orchard Fruit Shortcake. Paired with Bella “bubbles” in ready-to-go packaging, proceeds will lend support to two worthy causes. Tickets are $150 each and must be purchased in advance here.

2. Beach, Bench and Dinner at the Inn
Load up on snacks at the legendary Naramata General Store and start the day sun bathing and splashing at a unique and historic local beach like Three Mile (clothing optional!) or Wharf Dock, that boast prime access for paddling a SUP or kayak. When the afternoon sun rises, flock to the Naramata Bench and discover why the area is considered one of the most unique wine growing regions on earth. Hot, desert-like climates, framed by deglaciated mountains and extinct volcanoes, moderated by lakes, rivers and streams have created a diverse range of ancient soils and numerous microclimates within these valleys. With more than 42 wineries inside a 20 minute radius, you’ll find plenty of incomparable terroir to swirl, sip and savour. You can even skip the drive and let the new Wine Trolley Co. take care of directions and parking!

3. Wednesdays are for Farmers Markets and Wine Bars
Honouring the “make it, bake it, grow it” philosophy, the Naramata Community Market is a showcase of locally made products operated by the Naramata chapter of Cittaslow. The popular market runs every Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm at Manitou park. Come hungry as you nosh your way through the beautiful fruits and vegetables, baking, farm eggs, ready-made meals, and preserves, plus handmade treasures like pottery, jewellery and glassware, and local wine and cider. From here, it’s a lovely 7-minute stroll to our wine bar Eliza, where a thoughtful selection of wine, cocktails and beer await those keen to sip, nibble and nosh local delights throughout the evening.

4. It’s time for ALL the Okanagan Fruit!
Get ready to load up the car – August is shaping up to be a bumper crop of all the Okanagan fruit favourites. Indulge in the moment AND stock up to can, pickle and jam! The cooler start to the summer has resulted in a unique fruit season where cherries, apricots, peaches, plums and pears will be peaking within days and weeks of one another.
