Brasserie l’ecole We Are Back
Now Taking Reservations
There’s good news and good news from Brasserie l’ecole. One of Victoria’s favourite restaurants is back after a brief closure earlier this year. Foodies near and far breathed a sign of relief.
Alright Victoria, you asked for it! The other good news means no more lining up in the cold and hoping for a table at just the right time. Brasserie L’ecole is now taking reservations online or at OpenTable.ca
We dined on the Friday evening of the soft opening. The restaurant was packed and very busy. Somehow I had altered my reservation and Open Table hadn’t picked up the change so we did have a bit of a wait for our table but the restaurant handled our faux pas with grace and we didn’t have to wait too long.
During the soft opening we enjoyed just a few items to share. More good news, the menu is basically the same with only seasonal changes, just like before.
Chicken Liver Mousse, grilled baguette, cornichons, grainy mustard
Parisienne Gnocchi, hazelnut, spring herbs, Etorki cheese fondue
Moules
Frites
Locally caught Cod, my share of this dish, pictured here.
Seasonal, locally available ingredients cooked in a classic French-country style.
Every dish we shared was well prepared and the same deliciousness we have come to expect from Brasserie l’ecole. The weekly menu (early May) subject to change.
The Wines
Founder and Sommelier Marc Morrison has chosen a range of beers from Belgium and France. Following the lead set by the bistro menu, The wine selection at Brasserie l’Ecole is primarily composed of value French wines. The list, like the menu, is frequently updated to reflect the non-stop arrival of new products.
Probably one of the best wine selections you will find, anywhere. Several excellent wines and all priced very well.
Check out their image gallery, the pics are way superior to mine. Warning: intense cravings may be experienced.
We can’t wait to go back again. Same great food, same excellent wine selection, at a good price point, same team serving and same team cooking up magic in the kitchen. The only change, now taking reservations. Make yours soon to avoid disappointment.

Information, logos and feature image courtesy of the restaurant. My comments (in italics). Images (except where noted): MyVanCity. While waiting for our table (not the restaurant’s fault), with thanks, we received complimentary Kir Royales. Dinner was a very affordable $139.00 (including taxes & a 20% gratuity). Reservations highly reommended.
