VanDusen’s Spring Strings returns featuring
string musicians of the VSO
VanDusen Botanical Garden invites guests to celebrate Mother’s Day weekend surrounded by spring blooms and live music as Spring Strings returns to the Garden on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
This year’s event will feature eight string musicians from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra performing contemporary favourites with a classical twist in an open-air concert. With two performances scheduled at 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., guests can enjoy an afternoon of music set against one of Vancouver’s most vibrant spring landscapes. Visitors can expect to hear familiar tunes from artists such as Adele, Coldplay, ABBA, and more.
Concert attendees are encouraged to make a day of their visit and explore the 55-acre Garden before or after the performance. From the colourful Rhododendron Walk, to blooming wisteria and golden laburnum trees, the Garden offers a picturesque backdrop of vibrant flora. Blending botanical beauty with contemporary string renditions, the event features an atmosphere reminiscent of the popular series, Bridgerton. Costumes and Regency-inspired attire are welcome for the show.
Tickets are limited and available online. Each event ticket includes admission to the Garden for the day.
Plan your visit
Visitors are encouraged to arrive early and bring blankets or low chairs, as formal seating is not provided. The concerts will begin promptly at the scheduled times.
Picnics are welcome, and a selection of food vendors will be onsite, including Chickpea, Ay! Mamacita, BistrotVan, Coffee Bike, and Uno Gelato. Alcohol is not permitted.
A limited number of tickets are available and must pe purchased online in advance.
Parking is free but spaces are limited in the Garden’s parking lot. Visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle, or take transit if possible. Some free neighbourhood street parking is also available in the area.
