Fall for BC Wine campaign invites travellers to explore

After Summer Disruptions, BC Wine Country Calls Visitors Back to
Experience the Magic of Harvest

Fall for BC Wine campaign invites travellers to explore the most
vibrant season in wine regions across the province

After wildfires disrupted travel to some communities in the Thompson Okanagan this summer, BC’s wine industry is sending a clear message: wine country is open and ready to welcome visitors, with harvest underway across the province and wineries throughout BC continuing to offer exceptional wine, food and fall experiences.

Wines of BC has launched the third annual Fall for BC Wine campaign, a September and October push to bring visitors into BC’s wine regions during one of the most important periods of the year for wineries and tourism-dependent communities.

This year’s campaign turns support for BC wine into action, encouraging visitors to visit, book, and buy local. That support is especially important in Okanagan communities affected by this summer’s disruptions, while travellers can also discover wine regions across Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, the Fraser Valley, the Kootenays, and beyond.

“This fall, the best way to support wine country is to show up. Book the tasting. Stay for dinner. Visit a winery you have never been to. Buy a bottle to take home,” says Jeff Guignard, President and CEO of Wine Growers British Columbia. “You don’t have to choose between supporting local and having an incredible experience. BC wine country has fantastic wine, food, and hospitality waiting for you right now.”

Harvest also offers a view of BC wine that visitors cannot get any other time of the year: grapes arriving at the crush pad, winemaking teams at work, new wines being released, and vineyards changing colour across the province’s diverse wine regions.

Throughout the fall, wineries will offer seasonal tastings, vineyard dinners, live music, new releases and other harvest experiences. A visit to BC wine country supports much more than wineries, bringing business to local accommodations, restaurants, farms, shops and attractions. It’s an opportunity to experience the best of British Columbia in the fall while contributing to the communities that make each wine region unique.

“Fall is such an amazing time to be in BC wine country,” says Courtney Fossett of Domaine Artema Winery. “There is so much happening, from harvest activity to events like Oliver’s Festival of the Grape, where visitors can taste local wines, enjoy great food, and cheer on the Grape Stomp. Every region has its own way to celebrate the season.”

Those unable to travel can still take part by choosing BC wine at local stores and restaurants or ordering directly from BC wineries.
